[GameSpot] Battlefield 4 to be shown off by EA in the next three months - Page 7

I can't wait for BF4! All you people saying it's too soon don't know what you're talking about, this time they don't have to develop a whole new engine like they did with BF3. Also, I see zero problem with Battlelog (w/ BBLOG) as it is now, I can flag cheaters, bad servers, add friends, and look at stats on any PC. Not to mention let a level load while I do other stuff and hop in when I'm ready.

Also, I don't see BF4 being worse in any way, it can only be better, with better graphics, optimizations, and fixed gameplay aspects everybody asked for in BF3. Like no blue filter.

Maybe I like it so much cause I'm basically pro. wink.gif

At first I didn't much care for Battlelog. Part of it was probably the fact that I didn't much care for change, and part of it was that in the early days, it was rather broken. A lot of "You have been disconnected from EA Online." errors. And that got annoying. But, it's since been fixed and updated, and with Better Battlelog, it's quite a bit more useful. So, if Battlelog does end up staying around, it won't be the worst thing in the world.

As far as the game itself is concerned, I do hope they don't make it quite so nerfy. I understand the need for balance, but making a gun useless in the name of such is just silly.

As commented on earlier in the thread, it's almost scary how consistently we bash the current game next to the game beforehand. This to some extent happened with CoD for MW2, BO and MW3, and happened with BF2, BF2142, BFBC2 and BF3.

BF2 was a disasterous mess at launch, and required patching that lasted YEARS, oh and one good Xpack (Special Forces) paired with two not so popular booster packs (Armored Fury & Euro Force). BF2142 in some ways split the community because of its release timing (1 year and 3 months after BF2, but boy I have fond memories of BF2142). BFBC2 was a fun, but admittedly offshoot version in BF in my eyes, and people just could not stop complaining about BFBC2 (no jets, simplified heli controls, loss of the commander position sniper shotgun slugs). Now with BF3 being a sort of hybridization of BFBC2 and BF3, fans of both have reasons to cheer and gripe, and we've read enough of that accross the internet. In short, every BF game tends to have a slow start plagued with issues which then get fixed up, and when the next BF game comes, we'll look back at the finished patched product vs. a new buggy DICE product and we'll complain as always.

As for release timelines, it hasn't really changed at all, it's always been somewhere in the 2 year mark, only reason why it feels so short right now is due to post release dlc/xpack releases which make it seem like BF3 is continually refreshed.

As for which is better/best between the currently released games? Personally, I want to go back to BF2142 (pretty much no mad.gif serrvers, and who knows? Maybe they'll revisit the 2142 space in BF4...

i still remember how buggy bf2 was at launch until the patches fixed most of the issues. But it was a really enjoyable game. With BF2142, it was something new and a bit different with regards to the setting of the game (future warfare). i still dont believe that it split the community that much as more in catering another group.

I do concur that with the news of BF4, it does feel that the bf3 product life cycle is short due to the dlcs and that's something that should be explored a bit in terms of effectiveness of the dlcs. The BF3 dlcs have really extended the game with fresh air in maximizing the game itself for additional years. Even moreso, with rumors that bf4's backdrop into modern warfare, that too also adds to the notion that bf3's life a bit short. If BF4 was something else like future setting or a continue story line from BFBC, then that would be a different story.

So far, I think the release of bf3 has been pretty successful into a market that has been heavily saturated by the COD series. I can only have high expectation for BF4 and hope they will address the many issues that BF3 still has, but wished BF4 would come at a much later date.

I was in a aftermath server yesterday and read,

"EA sucks...they still haven't even fixed hit detection and refuse to listen to their customers."

I replied,

"And yet they still got you to buy the game TWICE for premium..."

If you don't like EA, don't buy their games. It's that simple.

The funny thing is that when BC2 was the newest game out, people were crapping all over it left right and centre.

Complaining about how its not real battlefield and Rambo medics and carl gustav and camping snipers and corridor maps and no jets and list whines on and on and on.

However, by some miracle, when BF3 launched, BC2 is now like the best thing ever.

Its the same with every single Battlefield game. You ALWAYS get die hards who can't take the changes across the series.

When BF2 came out, people complained it wasn't like BF1942......but now BF2 is like some holy grail.

When BF2142 came out Jesus Christ.......the crying....."its a BF2 mod"...."unghh stupid futuristsic"..."OMG GANZ/BURST ROCKETS/BAUR-H IS OP"..."Cool down on LMGs isn't like last time ***ff" blah blah etc, yet now its commonly heralded as one of the best and most balanced/team orientated Battlefield games ever.

When BC2 came out.....as I said...the chants of "not real Battlefield" and whatever were all over. Now, you have people in BF3 threads proclaiming BC2 was far superior etc etc.

It's literally the Battlefield circle of life.

You can blame the community for that tongue.gif They would pick out a gun that was "OP" then whine about it until it got nerfed, then pick another gun to call "OP" and, well, you get the point. I honestly didn't mind the balance at launch. Some things here and there could have used a small nerf, but definitely not to the extent that they did. I don't blame DICE for trying to please their fan-base, though.

Yeah, I know. It's rather obnoxious. Listening to the community is nice and all, but they don't listen to the entire community. And, they don't listen objectively. The Val comes to mind. It used to be a pretty boss gun, now it's decidedly average. I don't much care for that about it, because it's literally the last gun there is to unlock in the main unlocks. It should be a little on the powerful side. If people bring up the "They're only good because they're using x gun that's more powerful than the rest", they're not really that good, are they?

The common complaint of 'I was shot behind a wall' is down to latency. The slider allows you to balance precise movement with better animations. So put it to the bottom and you get solid precision (as best as can be), but the animations are bad.

It's called "network smoothing factor" and the description is:
Quote:
Visual smoothing of network data such as players and objects. Lowering will reduce latency but could increase visual errors.

So actually, it does help wink.gif
