If hardware lasted forever (er, say guaranteed 3 years), then I could be temped to slap down $900 for a single gfx card. But I've had a 50/50 early failure rate with my higher end video cards. (And no, RMA service doesn't count ... too many horror stories about companies just exchanging bad cards between people, hoping the cards shake out okay in another system.) I guess I don't feel rich enough to play the $900 per component roulette game! redface.gif

I'm not so sure anymore. Totally depends on how they OC to be honest. If they are super locked down reference boards that only get up to 900 or so MHz I think you will see highly OC'd 680's like your good Lightning getting closer than you might think to the performance of a Titan. We will see....

This is based off a 3d Mark score. I'm talking actual gaming performance(fps). Its a pretty safe bet that the 790 when released will be at least 130% faster then a current gtx680. That's saying a 780 will be roughly 15-20% faster then a 680. The 790 should be priced around a grand. In other words a Titan in Sli being roughly 130% faster then a single 680 doesn't warrant a 1800 dollar price tag to Sli. 800 more then the 790. I'd rather wait for the 790.

The 780 will perform better than the 680, and I don't think Nvidia is dumb enough to let this ~$900 Titan get out-performed by their ~$500 GTX780. I'm hoping there's a decent performance gap.

Well yeah. But this is Extreme settings with both bencmarks. A lot more accurate than Performance preset.
But I hear you, GTX 790 will be better value if that is what you are wanting. IF it ever gets made...

That said, if you have the money, dual Titan will be better. GTX 780 will be a lot slower than Titan.
