computer wont start.... oh god help asap!! - Page 2

Dont need to scare you but i too had a similar problem. Was playing bf3 and suddenly pc shut down. If i am right then your pc might start for less then 1 second and you wont be able to hear any beep codes. I too tried changing psu/inserting one stick of ram, but since even the fans werent powering up i guessed mobo is gone.
I went to svc and came to know my mobo had a problem. Wasnt powering up.
Are you getting any beep codes? if i am correct then your hdd wouldnt spin too.

P.S- When i got my mobo back, the northbridge heatsink wasnt properly installed. Didnt find any capacitors/burnt marks on visible part of the mobo. Think in my case it was northbridge side problem. Srry for incorrct grammar too tired its almost 4.30am and still cudnt sleep! wink.gif

You could try it with the 8-pin unplugged, if the PSU stays on, it could indicate a fried VRM. IF not it's something else on the board pulling it down. Also check your clear cmos jumper, I've seen board that shut off if that's in the wrong position. Just a couple of ideas... smile.gif

Yeah. It sure is sounding like a mobo problem.... My sabertooth completely keeled over on me about a month or two ago. Wouldn't even go into BIOS. It was a huge pain, but not as bad as it could have been. ASUS sent me a replacement (used) mad.gif , but it worked. I installed it and windows booted right back up. Didn't even have to do a clean install.

Yeah doesn't even post, no beep codes... Nothing! All that happens is that faint noise when its trying to start up... The PSU fan moves 1/10th a revolution then stops. You had to ship mobo back? How long did that take?? Also, rep for everyone when I get onto a computer! Tytyty

Asus does an advance RMA. So they sent me a new one before they received the old one, they just get a credit card # to ensure the deliver of the old one. They lost my info at first so I had to call them again. I guess with out a delay the whole process would be about a week.
