CFX - Vapor-X 7970 - Second opinion

Hello OC.

Today I got my second graphics card (Sapphire 7970 Vapor-X) so I can run Crossfire. And I must say, it's a nice card. wink.gif
But not today!

I tried to install it in my build (seen in profile) and I don't seem to have room enough! Because of some plastic etc. So the card fills a bit over the 2 slots that I have available for it.
However, if I take the fan of (sapphire cover), then there's space enough with a few milimetere, but that's not good!

Therefore, I am now in doubt throughout this crossfire, was a good idea although I had been looking forward to it. :/
I therefore see no options at the moment and seek help to what to do next.

First I could buy 2 aftermarket coolers (Prolimatech looks like it keep the length and the slots to be used below) and install them instead of vapor-x cooling solution, but if something happens to the card where it needs to RMA, it must be swapped around on the fans again, is it worth it?

Second I could pick to return the card (14 day return) & instead choose to upgrade my CPU to a newer i5/i7 when my current CPU has little difficulty in my new resolution (1440P).

3rd Return the card and keep the money.

Hope there is someone out there who can come up with a good piece of advice or two. smile.gif

Problem is it's 2 close and the 1card, can't have a cooler on.
I really help some help to deside what to do next.

return the card you just bought. for 1440p an overclocked HD 7970 will do fine. just turn off MSAA or reduce MSAA to 2x when needed in a few demanding games.
