Uh.....no.

First, 4K TVs are just now hitting the market, and are insanely expensive. We won't be seeing them mainstream for several more years at least now. So, frankly, it would be a freaking useless feature...literally useless. Second, the hardware of previous generations was barely able to maintain 30fps at 720P. So 4K gaming is still way out of the question right now.....

What we should expect, and get, is 60 fps at 1080P out of the PS4 and the next XBox. That is a more than acceptable, and expected, performance gain. Maybe 60FPS at 720P when the consoles are still new, but once the developers have matured with them, 1080P should absolutely happen.

There is no reason for that crap. If they make something that far behind again they'll really start losing out as Android gaming might mature enough in the mean time and cut into their sales far more. I can't believe they'd be dumb enough to let that happen. The tech is available and they should prepare for the future. The last gen was able to slide by simply because they were at most 1 year behind when they were released...but if all we can expect out of the new ones is 1080p at 60FPS...then throw in the towel as 3-5 years down the road ARM powered droid gaming devices will have squeeze the console market to the margins.

In what world do you see arm powered devices and Android gaming realistically competing with consoles? Are you one of the guys who bought an ouya?

Android gaming and console gaming are really not even comparable.

Awesome news and finally we await the fresh new hardware!!

Now, to the people who want to see a $400 console, really now? people will gladly pay $500-$600 for a phone that will be outdated in a year or two, but can't pay $600 for a console that will last for at least 4 years? rolleyes.gif

I looked for logic, but he was no where to be found. /s

The PS3 at launch here in the UK was priced at around £430-500 depending on which option you chose. If the PS4 is similar in price that's fine.

I plan on dropping a similar amount on either a 780 GTX or 2x 770 GTX in SLi or a AMD 8970 or 2x AMD 8950 in Crossfire.

I think the PS4 will support 4k. Just not for gaming. Sony is really pushing 4K content, the same way they were pushing blu-ray around the time of the PS3, I cant see them leaving 4K support out of the PS4.

It will support 4k but everything will probably be up-scaled from either 720p or 1080p. 4k takes up enormous space. Can blurays even fit that much? It would probably have to be streamed or locally downloaded onto the hard-drive to make it work. Nevertheless, this should proove interesting as sony are the ones announcing their new console before microsoft. Either microsoft had a surprise in store for people or sony is making the right decision by creating the massive hype.

1080 @ 60 FPS = doubt it

AFAIK, these devs love more effects and expanse than higher framerate and running on the popular native res.

That being said, I don't mind 720p @ 30 FPS stable (with decent filters) as long as the visuals, expanse and gameplay make up for it.
