DDR2 800 Problem With AMD X2 5200+

Thread Starter
Hi,

I just build a new gig as follow :

AMD X2 5200+
1 GB Corsair 6400C4
2 X 500 GB Sata II Seagate
M2N32-SLI Wifi Deluxe
MSI 7900GS
Zalman 9700 LED

I have memories and cpu runs at it stock speed which is 800mhz & 2600mhz but cpuz report my DDR2 memory run only @ 373 x 2 speeds with X 13 multiplier ( CPU/7 ). When I changed the multiplier to X 12 (CPU/6 ), memory runs @ 400 X 2 speed because memory divider now dropped down to 6 but my cpu is now only runs @2400mhz.
Is it suppose to be like this or something wrong with my system ? Can somebody please tell me ?

Thank you

Sounds to me as a Divider has kicked in..We will have to wait what other people say.

I agree with enterprise....there is something on the mb set to auto that should be on manual. Asus mb's will change the divider automatically when set on auto.

Nice on Busa. Automatic or should i say ''SAFE'' overclocking utilities in motherboards can be a pain as automatically they can change settings to best suit your hardware...Yoou are going to want to switch to manual as Busa said.

I have the memory set at 800mhz and everything else at motherboard's default. Don't try to overclock yet.

I have the same motherboard. You need to manually set your divider. The best ratio to have is 1:1. To achieve that I have to set my RAM divider all the way down to DDR2-400. At 3.0Ghz (300FSB x 10) my ratio is 1:1, therefore 300Mhz RAM. But its DDR2 so its really 300 x 2 = 600Mhz. Running at 200Mhz UNDER rated speed of 800Mhz.

With your CPU multi set to 12x you get 2.4Ghz right? Well leave the multi and just increase your FSB now to like 220. You'll get a clock of around 2.64Ghz.
