What made you switch to PC Gaming - Page 4

Doom made me switch to PC games.
I was already PC gaming a good bit with CS1.6, HL1 Mods (The Specialists, Natural Selection) and Day of Defeat. But it was when I found out about a lovely game called Freelancer, immediately got hooked and ended up playing that exclusivly for nearly 2 years biggrin.gif
Thats when I fully made the switch

But was also a big financial thing. My computer at the time was a Semperon 3000+, 768MB DDR2-800, and a SiS Virage 64mb and I had a OG Xbox with XB Live.
A X360 at the time was 300, yet I could get a new video card for 100. A BFG Tech 7600GS Overclocked 256MB and 1GB of RAM was purchased over 4 months.
I was able to play Rainbow Six Vegas 2, Call of Duty: World at War, World in Conflict (wubsmiley.gif - First game I tried that needed a GPU, I was looking forward to it so much and it did not disappoint one bit) and Gears of War PC all ran perfectly fine. Did not see a need to get a 360 anymore really.

When i was about 12, i would be playing my ps1 or my xbox and i would get bored with replaying the same old levels (one gets pretty good at crash bandcoot when you play it constantly) but i would see my uncle playing counter strike or an other online game I dont quite remember. I would always wonder why he enjoyed it soo much and then i found out that he could play online against other people and that i could do it at home for free - i was hooked on PC for life from then on

i choose PC because i can upgrade part by part.

the best part of buying a pc is ensembling until it can run.
for the game part the 1st time i played MMO is on PC and i love the interaction between players.

It was a joke... you know, "PC elitist doesn't want to be compared to console gamer"...

Playing Call of Duty online for the first time at a friends house made me sell my PS2 to get a graphics card to try it out. From there I got hooked. At the time, you couldn't get online multiplayer from consoles and that opened a whole new world of gaming for me smile.gif

Edit to add: I actually started with PC gaming in the 80's - Sinclair ZX81, ZX Spectrum, Amstrad 464 / 6128. Manic Miner and Jet Set willy were two of the best thumb.gif
