Well, it seems Samsung has signed a contract deal with Dell to provide panels for Dell-branded monitors (as well as making their own). The monitors-to-be are to be 27" LCD panels which can double as Televisions.

Samsung will provide the panels and will launch its own displays alongside

Samsung Electronics said that it has signed a long-term contract to provide Dell with 27-inch LCD panels, according to DigiTimes’ reading of a Korean publication. Both companies will launch 27-inch panels in 2007, and the panels can also be used as televisions.

Ooh nice find. +Rep. If the quality is any good, might throw it on the "To-Buy" List

Guys by 2007, lcd's will have again dropped signifigantly in price. Right now you can get a 22" LCD for $400 and a 24" for $700. How much you want to bet in 07 that the new monitors will be in the $500-$600 range?

You know, I never imagined getting rep for a good news post. But many thanks, Beret... Glad to know there are others who appreciate someone finding and sharing a good news story!

You and me both, Burn (baby, Burn! Disco in--sorry, sorry, got carried away ). Although I don't have the money either, and my desk could not accomodate such a monstrous display, it'd still be awesome for a TV. I can see it now, that sucker as my HD TV and (if I can swing the savings over the holiday here) Dell's recently released 20" widescreen on my computer desk. Ohhh the joyous possibility.

I'm seriously hoping you're right. Because then, I'll be able to afford a good monitor!

I wouldn't mind a 1200p display that's 27".

This is great. This means that the 24" widescreens are going to get even cheaper and probably faster. After my sour experience with the Samsung 204B, I may just hold off on a gaming monitor purchase.

Umm yeah. But why wait? I paid less for my 22" than I did for my 19" ($200 vs $350), but I'm glad I bought the 19".
