A Resident Evil reboot is possible, according to Capcom producer Masachika Kawata. Speaking to Eurogamer, the designer was asked if Capcom would consider changing up the series formula--perhaps making it open-world--after the polarizing reception of Resident Evil 6, to which the idea of a reboot was mentioned.
Quote:
One possibility for the future of Resident Evil, Kawata said, is for Capcom to place greater focus on the horror component, making "something scarier than we have already."

I like the idea of scarier, after all, tension and exploring is what made the game what it is today. Go back to your roots, but don't stick to them just enrich them and enhance what is great about it in the first place.

First zombie scene in the original on ps1 = nightmares for weeks when I was a kid

How about they just stop. Stop making these horrible quality games. Stop ruining what's left of the IP, and stop trying to milk money from it.

Another reboot/remake? Maybe they should shelve RE for now and wait until you have better ideas on what to do with the franchise, I wouldn't mind waiting if a better game was made.

I'm on the fence with the Resident Evil series... part of what made the originals so scary were the clunky controls and forced camera angles... resource management wasnt much of an issue if you were accustomed to these games, but it seems like most game developers are going to opt on the side of making a "pretty" game that just about anyone can beat...

gone are the days where games were somewhat difficult and playing on EASY only allowed you access to a small portion of the game before it would say "Now try it on NORMAL!"
