need suggestions for gaming rig - Page 4

Not much. Pick a style of key:

one of the non-cherrys
cherry black (no extra tactile or sound feedback)
cherry red (same as above, but less pressure to depress keys)
cherry brown (tactile 'bump' signals key activation before key bottoms out, no extra sound feedback)
cherry blue (tacticle bump & sound signals key activation before key bottoms out, can be loud to type on- and all mechanical keyboards except topre aren't all that quiet)

then a brand you like, and go with it. Mionix & Steelseries brands are known for heavy "rage-proof" construction & reliability. Razer, not so much. Das & Zowie seem popular for some unknown reason. There are lots of brands. I considered getting a 'brown' keyboard. Still am, but even though I do a lot of typing, spending $100 or so on a keyboard just keeps not making sense. I don't do so much typing that there's a heatlh issue arguing for ergonomics (unlike mouse) and similarly there's no gaming advantage for me.

Thanks for the little chart/explanation. Still thinking I will go with the cherry blacks though.

Oh I wasn't trying to convince you to not get cherry blacks. That's all personal preference.

I have done through and redone my list. I wanted to save some money to instead of going with a big powerful air tank, I wanted a still pretty powerful aquarium. So I had to drop the 3930K and x79 board obviously, to get a decent cooling loop going so I had to make some changes. So any suggestions for the new list?

My target is around $4000 total, I know that seems high but this is my first big investment so I want to make it a good one. If though, you think I could save a lot of money and still accomplish the same or better results, feel free to tell me about your ideas.
