Best 1155 board for watercooled OCing? - Page 3

Anyway, I've narrowed it down to the GA-Z77X-UP5, and the ASUS P8Z77-V Pro or Deluxe. I can't get the Formula out of my mind but that's probably just their marketing refusing to release my brain from its claws.

Somewhat unrelated, but what happened to either all black or black and red? Everything's blue now.
It's not all blue. Asrock does a lot of black and gold. Their OC formula board is yellow.
Gigabyte has their gray z77 UP5, orange UP7, black X79 and z77 UP4 and bright green G1 killer boards.
Asus also has their red ROG series.

Care to give reasons for that?

Thought I'd revisit this, still haven't made a purchase.

Anyone recommend one of the three listed (GA-Z77X-UP5, ASUS P8Z77-V Pro / Deluxe) over the others?

I would not recommend the ASUS P8Z77-V Deluxe, have had nothing but problems, especially with new drivers and Bios 1805..... down grade and still have issues.

My best new rig, so I thought...

My only experience with the Z77 is the Mpower I'm running now. I ended up going with it because of the look. I was looking for all black and it delivered the most in the color scheme I needed at a price point I liked. It has been a solid performer for me so far. The only thing I'd want at this point would be a high quality sound card. Not because the onboard sound is poor, I just dont have much else to spend money on at this point (starting to gather components for the water cooling).
Inferior FTW!

just go with the color scheme you desire first (since all this boards will suit your needs),i have UP5/UP7/M5G and just recently sold OCF..the coolest running board is M5G and UP5H end up as my 24/7 watercooled rig =>you don't need/want to cool any of this boards (just stick with CPU/GPU blocks ),it's a waist of money

another vote for the gigabyte z77x-ud3h. It has all the components needed for overclocking even as far as extreme ln2 benching.

Supacasey - You ought to state what level of OC you are hoping to reach? 4.5? 4.8? 5.0 GHz?
I have been super happy with my P67 Sabertooth and would recommend its Z77 replacement.

I vote the UP5. It has the best power delivery system. Gigabyte's software support is definitely solid.
