People who adopted the 7950 for $300 after Kepler's launch are really getting their money's worth, but it's just too late in this generation to buy a card, let alone two.
Hopefully it's an early Q4 release. AMD representatives said the HD 8000 series was ready to go in September; I think that might be true, too, because we saw specs shortly after HD 7000's release.

By late q4 the ati 9000/gtx 800 series will be talked about and rumored..I dont see them holding back that long on kepler

Hope this isn't the case. I would love to upgrade my GPU ASAP with the next generation.

Same here i dont go off on rumors..EVERYONE else here overdoes em and makes it seem like nvidia or ati said them. Honestly i still look towards march-april to start the gtx 700 series like the 600 series. Then next year maxwell will come in to play. ITS stupid for them to push the 700 kepler in late 3rd/4th quarter then release maxwell..And by listening to rumors people buy the old series then when the rumors come back wrong they blame us. Thats why i say i take rumors this early as a grain of salt. With the 600 series rumors with release dates and specs were true but as for theze psh they go in one ear and out the other

So that means you are going to get that 3930K and keep you 560Ti instead of getting the 7xx card? biggrin.gif

Yeah, I can relate to this too. When I bought my 560 ti's in September of 2011, I was really hesitant on it. By then those cards had been out for a good 8 months and I felt I was buying in to the generation too late. I lucked up and found some open box cards on ebay for like $170 each. I bought two and still have them in SLI. The performance is surprisingly still very good. My only quibble with them is that there is only 1g of vram. If they were 2g versions I would have no itch to upgrade them right now.
Even with the 1g of vram, they still play everything out very well. (I play at 1080p)

I likely wont upgrade them, being as cheap as I am, until the 7xx and HD 8xxx cards are out for a few months. I will only upgrade then if I am having issues playing the games I play. If all is still going well, (which I suspect will be the case) I may just wait until the next generation.

I have found buying 2 cards in the ~$200 range is very good performance/$$. The only issue I have had with crossfire/SLI ever has been recent with the 310.90 drivers crashing in BF3. I backed back up to 310.70 and golden.

It is blanket statements like that that take away from credibility. I would hardly call 14 pages of people chatting about a hot topic "EVERYONE going overboard." It just isn't true. People talk, it is what we do. If it bothers, perhaps this website would be more to your liking....

Oh well, back to homework....

Hope this isnt true and its still Q2 or Q3.
Not sure how much longer my current cards are going to last, Have just had to bake one of them to get it going again.

It better not be true i'm waiting on prices to drop so i get a 7950 and sell my 6870
post #140 of 168
If true this sucks. mad.gif At 2560x1600, my GTX580 doesn't cut it, and a GTX680 or Radeon 7970 isn't powerful enough (IMO) either. SLI/Crossfire is not really a good option for me so I've been waiting for the GTX780 and Radeon 8970 release. Just a rumor (and Q4 does seem an excessive delay), but at this point I wouldn't be surprised. There seems to be little desire for AMD and/or NVIDIA to release the next gen. NVIDIA hasn't even released a fully enabled GK110 chip yet. I'm starting to wonder whether they are waiting to see how TMSC next die shrink is progressing since I'm sure Maxwell (and AMD equivalent) will require 20nm production. [OT, but a fully enabled GK110 would be awesome at 20nm thumb.gif]

Even if the rumor is false, it certainly doesn't mean we see a next gen release until June or even Q3. If you wait for non-reference designs then add another month or two. I really don't want to spend more than $500 or so on a new card, but for me it's not worth waiting several months more for a 15%-20% performance boost. Looks like it's a Titan for me. Might as well since evidently I'll have plenty of time to save up for Ivy Bridge-E rolleyes.gif
