Other than e-peen, I don't know why people are so against the current refresh cycles. Every year performance increases and the cost to achieve the same performance decreases. You don't have to buy the flagship card every year if you don't need all that performance. Look at the benchmarks and determine what would be the best card for you.

The same can be said for any product, at least GPUs and CPUs are on somewhat of a regular schedule. You can always expect a successor to your CPU or GPU a year out from its release.
