Asus maximus formula-xfi fatality professional freeze and crash problem

Hi guys

I am experiencing a weird problem and I still could not solve it. Maybe someone with a similar (old) motherboard could shed some light ?
win7x64 running smooth on a samsung ssd 830

Describing:

- Been using an xfi extreme music on asus maximus formula (the first version) since 2005 and flashed to the rampage bios (for the additional memory banks control options) with no sound problems whatsoever, sound on any of the creative 3 modes is crystal clear and as good as it can be

- recently bought a cheap xfi fatality professional with the sole purpose of freeing the PCI slot for a PCIE configuration, but I could not get it to work properly!

Sound is ok when playing music but as soon as I enter a game in whatever sound mode (entertainment, game, audio creation) after about 2-5 seconds sound goes off completely and either a) computer crashes only recoverable with a hard reset or b) it does not crash within the game but does crash if I exit a game and try to change sound modes in the creative audio control panel

Before you ask I tried everything as per

- run only the win7 auto default auto install of creative control panel
- on any creative driver install for the titanium range, older, newer or beta
- on any titanium PCIE range pax drivers
- in between tries removed all traces of driver with default uninstalls, driver sweeper, driver fusion as well as manually removing all registry traces and files on system 32, wow64 etc etc
- tried the registry trick to disable XRAM
- tried on any of the PCIE x1 slots as well as the free second PCIE x16
- searched the net for a similar problem on a similar motherboard found nothing, only related problems which are somehow look alike but not the same

Did a final all driver traces uninstall, went back to the extreme music board on the PCI slot and pronto no problem at all !

- This could be bad XRAM related but the XRAM disable trick didn´t improve (aida64 stating XRAM disabled which is logic)
- Could be Asio or hardware access related but plays and records music perfectly on any of the 3 sound modes, problem only shows when entering a (any) game, either older on dx9/eax or newer with no eax emulation (gw2, dishonored)
- Could be a bad sound board but it works ok until it enters hardware accel modes ? makes no sense

So I ran out of options! before I put it aside for good until my next motherboard update can anyone help ?
