Growing up I never even thought of selling digital games on pc and now thinking about it really doesn't bother me. I've sold console games before. Seeing as most pc games are tied to cdkeys that are attached to something outside of steam i just don't see the selling digital games on steam coming anytime soon. I don't need to sell my half life or indie games i got for like 4 dollars and under for 50 cents or something close to that. I'll live.

Whereas old gits like me grew up on videogames that you could sell, so not being able to sell digital games is irksome.

Well seeing as digital content is fairy new and looks like its only going to get bigger. Like i said before i'm sure you will be able to sell most your digital content in the future. Its something that would have to come with time from the get go until hard copies are old news. Greenmangaming.com has started some sort of sell back feature but because of restrictions like cdkeys being tied to accounts out side of Greenmangaming not all games will have that option.

This is why I do not use steam, and none of you should be using it either. Once the used market is dead, they will stop selling games for fair prices.

Nothing more. They don't have to do anything above that. They'd be well within rights to stop all downloading services and charge a fee for access. You would still need to get any kind of media from the seller if you wanted to install it without downloading from Steam.

Why do you even need to mention this whining or expecting Steam to provide you with a copy? No-one would expect this. If you lose your backup your option is to pay the fee to be able to use Steam services or find another form of media somewhere (downloading a steam backup from a dedicated website would be legit)

And no that doesn't explain anything better because you continuously miss the point and intentionally blow it up.

But yeah, any fee would be entirely unreasonable. Steam don't deserve a fee because you are using your right to transfer, but they're well within rights to restrict use of their services (all except playing the game on a Steam account... which costs them nothing).

With the bolded part I agree, but where do I download the game now you ask? Well the seller have to have a backup of that game in his hard drive, then just send it to the buyer, no need to download from steam, or steam will let the second buyer download it for a fee.

There is a lot more confusion to that too. Steam is really just a interface on top of some games that are operated on outside of steam and the cdkey is attached to an account out side of steam too. In other words, not all games are steamworks supported. So steam can't just transfer licenses that easy.

Exactly. The seller can back up the game using the Steam backup, burn it to a disc and send it to the buyer. OR even upload it to a file host, Mega or somewhere. It'd be legitimate since you can only use it with Steam and Steam will only validate it if you have the game on your account. If you wanted to enable it fully on Steam (I.E, infinite downloads, Steamcloud, patches, etc) then you must pay them a fee. That's totally reasonable.

What do you use for pc games then? i'm pretty sure if not attached to steam a game is attached to origin, uplay, etc.

Yes they can. All games on Steam are modified in such a way that they won't work without it (except for the Free2Play ones, I believe).

Yes because they don't support transfers right now, all they have to do is support it.

Explain in detail to something that doesn't exist yet please. Some games are attached to an account outside of steam. Example: Max payne 3 and grand theft auto 4 are attached to rockstar social club. Therefore i think that would conflict because its attached to that persons account. So steam would have to work with rockstar on something. So this selling digital content thing will take some time and is not that easy.
