Welcome to OCN thumb.gif

Where the heck did you find a 7900GT in this day and age? And were you aware that you can buy a much better & more modern GPU for only about $50? I hope you got it for like $25, the thing is so outdated (great card in it's day, but that day was 2005-6).

Anyways ... to help we're going to need to know a little about the rest of the system you're plugging it into. Specifically, brand and model of PSU and motherboard, but everything about it would be good to know. You did plug in the 6-pin power connector on the card, correct?

Are you saying you don't even get a POST screen when your monitor is plugged into the 7900? Are you certain you didn't accidentally leave the cable plugged into the onboard video jack instead of the 7900?

You may need to go into the bios and set the PCI-Ex card as the primary graphics adapter (obviously, while you are running the onboard graphics so you can see what you're doing).

If you boot up into Windows on the OB VGA, with the 7900 installed, does the card end up being detected (in Device Manager), drivers installed, all that good stuff? Or does OB not work when the 7900 is installed at all?

Hi thanks for the reply firstly the card only cost me £10.50 around $16.50 redface.gif I know it's an old card but was the bargain buy better graphics for the guy not using it for gaming biggrin.gif

Ok my system

Asus M4A88T-V EVO
AMD Athlon 270 processor 3.4Gb
12 Gb Mem
Windows7 64bit
750w PSU

What else do you need to know?

Ok yes 6pin power lead was plugged in rolleyes.gif

when I boot into windows with the card inserted OB does not work when the 7900 is installed at all

I'm thinking it's a dud card and PCI-Ex is ok in bios.

You recon it's a gonner?

Cheers Bill
