If I replace the thermal paste, would it completely void the warranty?

I was curious of how warranties are enforced. Most laptops are filled with "Do Not Peel" stickers, especially on the cooling assembly covering the CPU and GPU.

If I was to break the sticker to replace the thermal paste, and a month later the laptop starts having a non-heat related issue or randomly dies, would I be screwed?

yes , seal is broken it would be void

An off-topic question, if I was to attach VGA heatsinks to the heatpipes and the CPU cover using thermal tape, and modify the backpanel (cutting a hole into it then attaching a protective mesh over it), would that also void the warranty?

o yea you as the customer are not allowed to take one any of the screws out are modify anything

The actual paste itself I don't think would be an issue.
But if you can't avoid that sticker, you might be SOL.

Depends on the laptop. None of the laptops I've gone into have had stickers.

Any mod from the original condition will void your warranty

The ASUS N61jq had a sticker covering one of the screws holding down the cooling assembly.
the best way to remove a sticker is steam but after that you would have to glue it as that will break the warranty but some company's ive done it too don't notice
post #10 of 10
Don't take the risk If your notebook isn't broken.
