MSI R7870 HAWK GHz Edition or MSI GTX 660Ti PE OC? Worth extra $50?

Hey guys. I'm going to be building my first custom gaming PC in about 2 weeks. I have all of my parts pretty much chosen except for my graphics card. I'm still trying to decide between the two listed above. I know the 660Ti is better than the 7870, but judging from benchmarks, it's not by much. The 7870 costs $50 more than the 660Ti. Will spending the extra $50 for the 660Ti really give me a huge FPS difference? I will be playing games such as Battlefield 3, Planetside 2, Crysis 3, Guild Wars 2, Arma II, and some more high res games. I will be running an i5 3570k that will be OCed. Is the extra $50 really worth it?

Your answers are much appreciated!

Have you looked into the tahiti LE cards? Its sold as a 7870 but its true name should be the 7930.
I think it offers an excellent bang for the buck, especially when compared to the 660ti.

Those are the 7870 XT cards aren't they? Do they perform a lot better? I just read the 3 reviews on it and it sounds like a great card. What improvements are in it than a normal 7870 GHz?

its not a 7870 (pitcairn) at all, its a cut down 7950 (tahiti). Only downsides that I can see is the high power consumption. Also, the sapphire card that I linked seems to have the best cooler of the tahiti LE cards available atm.

From TPU's review: "The HD 7870 "Tahiti LE" is carved out of the Tahiti silicon by disabling a fourth of its Graphics CoreNext clusters, which results in a stream processor count of 1,536, a texture memory unit (TMU) count of 96, and a raster operations processor (ROP) count of 32. The memory bus width has been reduced by a third; now, it is 256-bit wide and holds 2 GB of memory."

How much better does it perform though? Same performance as a 7950?

Yeah they are better for sure, like 10-12% over a 7870. I would go for it, especially over a 660ti.

When does it come out lol? And it's most likely going to be expensive since it's new.

You know the GTX 465 and the GTX 560 Ti 448? Well the GTX 660 Ti 1555 is a cut down version of the 670/680. Basically the GPU's that didn't make the 670/680 cut, expect them later this year as Nvidia try's to get rid of extra stock before or as the 7xx Series hits. And they should be cheaper then the 680's. Note: They might recycle them for the GTX 750's and GTX 755's so don't quote me lol
