Customized OS/Application Installer

Hi guys.

I probably reformat my PC - Umbra - a few times a year, and one thing that's really bugged me is how heavily customized my OS is, so not only do i have to install the OS -- Windows 7-- and remove anything i don't need, but then i have to install each application (such as Drivers, MSI Afterburner, Speedfan, Coretemp, etc) and then further customize their settings specific to my OS and hardware, and THEN, making a Task Scheduler entry for MSI & Speedfan so they start at bootup.

Then it dawned on me; surely there's a really useful tool out there that would do this automatically for me once i configured it? (ie, it would install Windows 7, then my programs) This would really come in handy if I sold Umbra in the future too, as the buyer could just rely on the disc i'd provide to install windows (with a legitimate CD key, of course)

It would be cool to have the useless stuff of Windows 7 chucked out, and have my applications (examples above) and their customized settings all installed at once during the OS installation. Or at least automatically thereafter the OS. Much how you would get a "Recovery Disc" from big-name manufacterer's, who love to bundle in all their lovely bloatware and it's settings specific to that computer model, which also included the systems OS on it.

So, is this possible? If so, where do i start? A quick google search turned up a free program called "RT 7 Lite", It seems almost ideal, but i don't think it would allow me to customize applications such as Speedfan's options, just simply install it.

Can anyone offer me any help?

I do an image backup of my computer right after I am done installing everything. Anytime there is an issue it is much quicker to restore than to wipe and re-install everything. I can generally be back up and running within 3 hours with everything restored in the case of an extreme mess up. I currently use about 300gb on my laptop between an ssd and hdd.

Windows 7 allows you to image backup and I feel that it is decent.

Control Panel - backup and restore - (on the left) Create a system image

You know, this didn't occur to me. I guess because i always had bad luck with image backups so i've got a mental block to them (Although it's something i've not done for many years) Thanks alot for this, i'll try it out.

Just to be sure, but this will retain any applications and their specific settings, correct?

Thanks again
