Smallest case possible for EEB/E-ATX 12"x13" motherboard (Asus KGPE-D16)?

Thread Starter
I was hoping someone may have a suggestion for a small mid tower case that would fit the Asus KGPE-D16 that I am most likely going to use for a new server build.
It just needs to cool 2 x CPU's, a few SSD's and HDD's, quad port NIC, as well as all 16 ram slots. No GPU.

I am guessing it would fit in most cases that support extended ATX but I am really looking for one as small as possible with dust filters and decent cooling.

I tried to compile a list of cases that can fit an EAXT board to get an idea of what was out there but I think there are some mid towers that will take an EATX but don't officially list that fact:

Corsair 800D - 24.00" x 9.00" x 24.00" - $274
SilverStone KL03-B - 23.39" x 8.66" x 20.63" - $119
Fractal Design Define XL - 22.10" x 9.13" x 22.05" - $149
IN WIN GRone - 22.1" x 9.6" x 23.4" = $144.99
NZXT Phantom - 25.74" x 8.74" x 21.32" - $119
NZXT Phantom 820 - 25.59" x 9.25" x 24.09" - $249
NZXT SWITCH 810 - 23.43" x 9.25" x 23.03" - $169
Nanoxia Deep Silence 1 - 20.35" x 8.66" x 20.94"
LIAN LI PC-V750B - 19.96" x 11.61" x 26.3" - $359
LIAN LI PC-A75 - 23.03" x 8.66" x 23.23" - $186

Nanoxia Deep Silence 1 or 2 looks promising but is hard to get in the USA frown.gif

Anyone other suggestions would be great. Thanks smile.gif

The Fractal Design Define XL has a new revised version coming out any day - the XL R2.

Besides having some changes to the design - the really interesting part is that the suggested retail has dropped to $129.99.

For an enclosure as large as it is, coming with 3 x 140mm R2 hydraulic bearing fans and room for 4 more, removable filters on the front and bottom, a 3-speed fan controller behind the door, sound-deadening foam, and 2 multi-position and removable HDD cages - I personally don't think you can beat it at that price!

Looks awesome but it has grown quite a bit in size as well - 25.07" x 12.66" x 25.78"

What's that line from Red Riding Hood?

LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD: And Granny. What big teeth you have. (she is looking directly at the wolf’s teeth and his mouth is wide open)

BIG BAD WOLF: (growling in his deep wolf voice) All the better to eat you with my dear!

(As in, all the better to add more components later, if you so desire - no busted knuckles inside that case!)

Hmmm, the Chenbro SR105 looks interesting - 20.9" x 7.8" x 16.7" and only $100 or so.
But, its certainly not much of a looker frown.gif

I realize your needs differ from many, but "gack" on that Chenbro!

Oh, well - form should always follow function - if it does what you need, who cares about looks?

You can always mod it...

Apparently the Fractal Define R4 will fit an EATX - http://www.overclock.net/t/838683/fractal-design-case-club/3740#post_17930241
Not a bad size at 18.27" x 9.13"x 20.59"

That is quite the rig, my man.

I'm just waiting for the budget to have room for a new case myself - weird PCIe config on my mobo means that I need 8+ expansion slots to get better GPU cooling.

As you can see in my system, I'm needing more room - and proper airflow configuration, both of which might be solved perfectly by the XL R2.

Not saying there aren't other cases under consideration - but the basics are all there.

Good luck in finding what you're looking for - if I see another candidate I'll post it up!
