Question about fittings, push-pull fans and EK Nickel plating issues

Hello.

I ordered parts for my water cooling system and i have a few questions so i wanted to be 100% sure before they ship them.

1) http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=59_971_240_579&products_id=35787

It says that ''The connection threads are G1/4" in size.'' Does that mean any kinds of fittings out there will fit them or do i need to buy some specific fittings for gpu block ?

I bought Monsoon Compression Fittings, 3/8" x 5/8"

http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=59_346_1026_1094&products_id=33207

Did i buy the right ones ? I hope i won't have any compatibility issues.

2) I bought Alphacool UT 45 360mm and Alphacool UT 60 240mm

Should i use them with AP 12-13 fans (push-pull) or do i need AP 14-15 for that. I don't want a lot of noise but i also want to see some good temperatures.

Whats the best option here if we want a balance between noise and performance ?

3) I bought EK gpu block and today i saw a few threads about old Nickel Plating Issues. When i saw a thread with pictures of brown disgusting water i got scared a little. Did they fix these issues with their new products ? Are there any new reports ? I just want to make sure i won't have such issues and since i have time to change some of my orders i would like to know it before it is too late.

4) I bought Mayhem's Pastel coolant. Do i need to buy anything extra to protect coolant from corrosion and other effects ?

I would study a bit more on water cooling since you are quite new. It took me quite a while to learn some things and it pays off in your build. In regard to your questions:

1. The G 1/4 is the standard used for the actual connection to your water cooling blocks, rads, etc. That is common on most all like this. But you are confusing this with the OD ID sizing which is important to understand.

Intended Tubing Size:

OD: 15.9mm (5/8")
ID: 9.5mm (3/8")
Wall: 3mm (1/8")
Single 3/8" (9.5mm) ID, 5/8" (15.9mm) OD, G 1/4 BSP threaded nozzle. Made of brass and includes compression ring.

That is the specs on what you bought above in the link. Notice the OD and ID sizes. This refers to the size of tubing it will accept. There are other sizes as well and it depends on the size of your build, what you are cooling, etc. The larger the tubing, typically the more flow and cooling, but that also tends to lead to needing bigger rads at times. It's still G 1/4 thread as you can tell for connections.

2. Not sure, as I am not quite up on those rads specifically. You should go with the best fans though and use a fan controller like a Lampton FC-6 for controlling speed and cooling. I am a big fan of Noiseblocker brand and Gentle Typhoon models myself.

3. If you get the newer models of EK waterblocks, then it should be fine so long as you don't have any parts in your build that cause conflicts with the other alloys. Most have reported the new models from EK work fine and I have all EK waterblocks in my build with no issues so far.

4. Nothing else needed for Mayhems Pastel, it's all in the bottle and adding anything else will be bad according to their thread here. You should check out the dedicated Mayhem thread too. I am using a custom color Mayhems Pastel myself.

Good luck in your build

Thank you so much it helped me to understand what 1/4 stands for and i had doubts about Mayhem's Pastel thanks for confirming that aswell smile.gif

Now i don't know what to do with fans and ek's waterblock. Will i be safe if i use EK's gpu block and Koolance cpu block together with Alphacool radiators ?

I am not sure if i should go with Aquacomputer's gpu block or not. I'd like to see more comment on this because i am so afraid of their nickel plating after checking a few pictures about that issue and it seems like their customer support was terrible aswell.

About fans if i do push-pull then i need to use 6+4 10 fans. Is there even a controller for 10 fans ?
