Even though it was supposed to have been fixed in like the 12.5 drivers, I'm still getting tearing on my 3rd monitor on the 13.1 drivers. I have 3x Dell U2412M monitors, 2x with display port adapters, and one just straight DVI.
I'm looking at 2 alternatives to possibly fixing the problem.
First, is a 4GB GTX 680, probably the Asus DCII one. Now, with that, I'll still be using mixed outputs on the card, 2x DVI, and the Display Port. So my question with that is, is the tearing just an AMD driver thing? Would using a GTX 680 have the same issue since it will still be mixed outputs? As well, I'm worried that while the card has more vRAM, it has a narrower bandwidth, 256-bit vs 384-bit. Am I getting too hung up on that fact? I don't think I really need 4GB for gaming at 5760x1200, but 2GB just seems like too little, so I'd rather have too much.
Second, is grabbing a Asus DCII 7970 from somewhere. Since that has 4x Display Ports, I could use all the same output to my 3 monitors, alleviating the problem all together. With that option though, after selling my reference 7970, I'd be spending $100 - $150 extra money on the same card, but with a fancier cooler and a higher clock speed. So I'm a little hesitant about that option as well.
Just looking for some advice on the topic, thanks
