M4 crucial 4 takes 4 mins to boot.

hi everyone! My friends rig is some issues with his SSD.. It takes forever to BOOT the windows.
Well before that his first concern was the BOOTMGR thing which I already fixed thru the windows repair.
then this problem! ITtakes like 4-6 mins to boot Windows.. (4min:15sec) was the time before I write this thread.
What really is happening is that, it takes like 3 mins in the Mobo Loading screen.. (ASUS p8z77-V)
then another minute the starting windows screen.. it varies sometimes but the time frame for each is pretty much the same.
Before it was working pretty fine.. it boots windows in seconds.
Actually I help him build this rig which all of the components came from Microcenter..

I already updated the firmware to the latest one.
(M4-CT128M4SSD2- 040H)
I also tried plugging it in to the other sata and changing also the cable but its still the same.(AHCI sata)
and sometimes when I tried to load STEAM.. which is located to the other HDD (Seagate Baracuda 2tb)
it takes some time too to connect..after that game loadings are fine. Some apps installed in the other HDD takes a while to load.. like GPUz , CPUz..
I think this issue started when I changed something in the registry. what I did was I change the default drive to where all files are gonna be installed. from C:( SSD) to D:( HDD) .."Coz the owner wants that"..
After that I noticed it opens really slow so I put it back again.
After that it all went just fine.. until 2 weeks ago when all this problem with the booting happened.

You think it has something to do with the registry? thats why its boots too long?
What am I gonna do now? Should i consider formatting it and install again the os? u guys think it'll help?
or should we return the ssd ?.. we it bought like 3 weeks ago.
We went for the SSD because of the blazing fast booting capability. I dont think 5 mins of booting is good.. lol

In the bios, are the drives set for IDE or AHCI? AHCI is recommended.

Something's definitely not right there, I have the same drive and pretty much the same board, cold boot including POST is sub 20 seconds.

I would be tempted to do a clean install and see if the issue persists. I'm a fan of clean installs though smile.gif

unplug the HDDs and what happens with the BIOS load (just leave the OS on SSD in there)?

This might sound silly, but is there a disc in the DVD drive? I was brought a computer this last week that was taking an age to boot and had become sluggish and unresponsive. After running the usual malware scans etc, I ejected a bad disc and it was back up to working normally again!

Yeah im thinking about doing that.. but you know im still looking for some options so it wont be necessary to format it.. Formatting is always the last option smile.gif
