Is this Biostar A780L able to handle unlocked AMD Phenom II X2 555?

I have this mobo:

Biostar A780L
http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=472#dl

GfxCard: AMD Radeon 6750 HD 1GB
RAM DDR2 2GB
Processor: AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition
PSU: FSP Hexa 500W http://pcx.com.ph/components/power-supplies/fsp-hexa-he500-eff-80-500w.html

I am planning to unlock the Phenom II x2 555 to a tri core or maybe a quadcore? Is any of the two possible? Sorry I am just a newbie when it comes to unlocking/OC.

I believe it turns to a Phenom II x4 B50 something after unlocking one core? If so, will the aforementioned motherboard (and PSU) handle such unlocking?

I am in the blue here, so please bear with me please.

Nope.

Edit: After reading into it a bit more, I'm not so sure anymore; I'm sure someone more knowledgeable in this field would help you out. thumb.gif

If you can find it. It is the cheapest mobo I would use to unlock it to a 3 core, but you need VRM cooler on it. I have a friends mother running a Phenom II B55 x3 on it @ 4.0ghz.

If I got my hands on that board, do I still need that VRM cooler?

On the side note, If I did NOT unlock the x2 555, will the board be able to handle it? I'm planning to unlock it after warranty. Probably first week of September or end of August.

Just unlock that CPU and don't overclock it. I will work just fine.

My old ASRock N68 series can handle it too:

Unlocked 555BE X2 @ X4 and OC-ed to 4GHz @ 1.35V.

This ASRock MBO has lover PWM than Your BIOSTAR, so do it, it will work.

I installed it along with the new PSU. Everything went better and faster. I had less loading time for games and opening other apps. I have a boost for gaming performance.

But still, do you think my current motherboard Biostar A780L can handle an unlocking to make it to Phenom II x4 B55?

Assassin's Creed 3 only had a boost to 20 fps for me in Boston compared to the previous 10fps.

I'm really tempted to unlock the x2 555 BE. But also, I am afraid to voiding the warranty. I am getting a temperature of 60C on the Phenom II x2 processor whenever I play AC3. And man, I really lag on Boston. I want to take things slowly until I have answers that can make me content.

Is there anyone else who can confirm if this Biostar A780L can handle the unlocking of 555 BE?

Here is the link again for the BIostar A780L

Have you read my post? It might. I wouldn't unless performance is worth the chance you might be getting a new board in the near future. You have a cheap end of cheap motherboards.
