i don't concur with any of you. I used to think xbox 360 controller, until I knew PS3 DualShock 3 works with all GFWL games (you just emulate it as a 360 controller).

That way you get a controller that works with all GFWL + you get a much better dpad. Because let's face it, the 360 controller dpad is horrible.

For those games, I personally like the PS2 Dual Shock controller and mayflash adapter. Analog triggers are just a detriment to games like these, that benefit from simple L2 R2 buttons. Not that you can't play those games with a controller that has triggers. They're just better without the triggers if possible.

Certainly true that the PS1/2/3 dpads are better than the 360 pad. Heck, virtually ANY dpad is better than the xbox360 dpad. However, the tradeoff with the PS3 controller is that it has arguably the worst designed triggers of any controller ever made. The quality of the triggers on the PS3 controller is literally akin to the quality of the dpad on the 360 controller.

Sadly neither controller is perfect, nor even close to it.

The old dpad on the xbox 360 controllers were indeed awful. The new one that transforms however, I love. I just keep it set to the raised dpad setting 24/7.

It is more expensive to buy the wireless controller and the receiver but you don't have to mess about with emulating controllers etc

The transforming D-pad actually has the same technical problem that the first one did. It's not a matter of how well the cross was defined at the top of the controller. It's a matter of them screwing up their redesign of SEGA's old dpad internals. Logitech actually made the same mistake with their floating d-pad controller. frown.gif

If you're going left and right only like a platformer, the transforming dpad might slightly improve on the first 360 dpad, but if you're doing any motions like 236, 214 etc same issue exists.

If you have a smartphone you can use a PS3 controller to play games on it using the bluetooth connection. If you don't have a console then it really comes down to personal preference. If you can I would go to a local video game shop and try to get my hands on each controller. They usually have stands where you can try new games or just ask an employee.

Wireless made for Windows 360 controller. That might be over your budget, if so get the wired version.

They'll work for your 360 as well, so you gain a 360 controller.
