What to pick? ssd or cpu cooling ?

Thread Starter
Sup guys. Currently I am running the rig in sig and I have that 2500k on 4.3 with 1.24v in offset. Gives me about 65-70C in prime and about 60-65 in crysis2 maxed after couple of hours.

I am just asking a simple question.
I am standing in front of purchase this month (my salary is rather low and I have to choose wisely) -

ssd or new cpu cooling ?

Which would benefit me more. With new cooling like macho, I could go 4.6 or so with my cpu. that would be like 300mhz more. With ssd I could install win7 on it and create steam library.

Which would benefit me more? Also -recommendations for each or another would be really appreciated.

SSD without a doubt. There'll be much more of a speed increase installing an SSD than there would be chasing 300Mhz on the CPU.

An SSD has to be one of the best purchases I've ever made for a PC, it makes a huge difference.

Edit: recommendations:

SSD: Intel, Crucial or Samsung
Cooler: ND-H14, Silver Arrow (not too clued up on air coolers, other people may have better suggestions)

definatly an SSD first, something like the samsung 830 (if you can find one), 840 or 840 pro. then there is also plextor, intel or crucial's as well.
that will give your system a nice performance boost that you will really notice. next time round you can look at a new cooler and overclock more smile.gif

Ok. that is enough for me. ssd it is then tongue.gif
I've heard good things about samsung 830 before and intel.

I will look for 120gb, so that's that. now... I have my 1tb wd partitioned as 50gb for c: and everything else for d:.
Wont be easy to reformat everything but I will think of something

SSD's are great! i'd say from sad experiences to avoid OCZ,
obviously it's a personal thing, but I've had four as system drives (vertex,agility3,agility4 amd a nocti msata at present) and other than the nocti, the others have all failed inside a few months..

Plus it's such a nice thing to press the power button on the pc,and turn the tv on,to find the pc is loaded by the time the tv displays output!

Aside from that, depending how quiet you want your system to be,lack of hard drive noise is an added benefit..

specs maybe the same but samsung, intel are proven reliable. imo reliabilty is most important with SSD's.
