Power Utilisation Software

Thread Starter
Hey Guys

Easy one hopefully, Looking for a bit of software that tells me exactly how much power my PC is consuming. I have recently purchased a 650W PSU for the machine in my sig and my friend believes it's not enough power though I'm 99.9% sure that it is easily enough power with loads of free wattage and hasn't given me any issue thus far.

So does this software exist? Just showing the components, how much power they're drawing and a total power usage thats live so I can run full load and see how much power it's taking thats always updated.

Cheers guys

Paul

I don't think so. Maybe the i series Corsair power supplies have this feature, but even that I doubt.

How about this:
P3 International Kill-A-Watt

or this:
Watts Up PRO

In the US, you can find the first one in any home improvement store, I got the second one at Frys, but I paid way less for it than the price onthe mfr's website.

For reference, my old rig (Athlon 64 x2 2.8GHz--65W TDP, nVidia GTS 250, 5xSpinpoint F3R RAID5) idled at about 160W, and topped out at 400W while simultaneously running Prime 95, FurMark and a RAID 5 Patrol Read (activity on all 5 drives)

With same video and storage, my new i7-3770K (@ stock) idles around 110W. If he's got a high-end GPU or SLI setup, max power might be higher, but if it's a high-quality 650W PSU, I bet you'd be OK.

Hope that helps.
