New Build 2K+

Thread Starter
With luck I'll be building a new gaming/editing/all round computer midway through March. I've spec'd up the below using overclockers.co.uk but there's a few parts I'm unsure of. The site I used might not be the cheapest,I'll have a better look when purchasing.

For me at least looks are just as important as performance

The ram is just a placeholder. I was going to get Dominator platnium but I could'nt justify the cost of 8GB for the looks so I'm looking for 16GB that works well and looks good.Any opinions?

The headphones and the h100i aswell. I like the look and feel of the corsair headset with the over sized ear pieces (big ears lol) and I presume the h100i is fairly solid? More looking for known problems with them, recommendations work too smile.gif

The Gigabyte HD 7970 GHz Edition Windforce doesn't seem to come with the necessary cable adapters to run eyefinity out of the box?

I know the Maximus V formula is E-ATX and slightly overkill but my current mobo is the Formula IV and I love the look ,build quality and the extra's. It does fit in a 600T aswell, although it half blocks the cable management but I can live with that.

I'll very likely be using crossfire down the line hence the 850w psu.

Is it worth changing to Western Digitals red HDD? I was thinking of the extended warranty but how does it compare to the Barracuda in terms of speed?

Lastly,is it worth changing the fans on the 600t? I'd like white ones but quiet good performing ones aswell. Any advice on this I'd appreciate.

I'll also be taking a 1TB HDD out of my current system to add to it.Using my old mouse and keyboard + my Win7 ultimate key
The sites I can use are in the UK and ireland ,scan.co.uk etc

If you got this far thanks for reading,I usually just spec it up and build it but for my own I get all anal about it lol

Better monitors (not that the Dells are bad, but might as well get a bit better): Asus VG23AH
http://www.deep-signal.com/asus-vg23ah-23-full-hd-3d-led-multimedia-monitor-5ms-1920x1080dpi-d-sub-dvi-d-hdmi---wall-mountab-107022-p.asp

Also I'd get a different heatset. Your motherboard comes with a half-decent sound card already (not great, but better than the vast majority of on board), which is probably better than that corsair heatset's USB soundcard.

Go here:

skip the sound card section, go to the headset/headphones section, and pick an appropriate item to replace the Corsair headset.

Also you may want to consider a custom liquid cooling solution. Just to cut down on video card noise.
