New HDD for my Games and reinstall

My WD Blue 500GB is stuffed into the red.
I'll need something pretty soon as I plan to upgrade when my tax return arrives.
With that said, I was thinking another WD Black 1TB as I like keeping the same brand across the board.
Or a lot of people recommend Samsung F series (I guess it doesn't matter too much)

Also thinking of reinstalling Windows 7 for a more customized install with an App drive (Separate), Widows C drive, backup drive, Recovery partition, and gamer drive.
My current C drive is a 750 WD Black.

I think I also have another couple drives like a 500 GB Blue and a 120 GB Hitachi.

Any suggestions? This can get confusing me thinks arrowheadsmiley.png

Reinstalling Windows 7 I'll definitely do, because I almost regularly find junk I thought was gone long ago, like uninstalls and installs not done properly. (Yeah I've done it redface.gif )

Why not get a SSD? Get a 120/180/256GB SSD and use it for your Windows, programs, and games and store your raw data like movies, music, pics, docs, all on the HDD.

You will get a much better gaining experience if you keep them on your main drive. While a game can load and play just fine sometimes it may need to access a cut scene or something like that and your hard drive may need to spin up if it has become idle.

Yeah, an SSD I might get. Nice suggestion, thanks!
But I'll need a bigger HDD for games, like 1 TB. I guess I can reuse the 750 GB for programs and the 500 GB for backup.

Why would you have more than 3-4 games installed at any given point? I don't understand why people have so much junk installed they do not use. Keep your computer clean and install the games on the SSD. That is the whole point of having a SSD to get rid of micro stutters in game and to have fast map loading.

3-4 Games? You've got to be kidding?
Mostly I've read that ppl install their OS on the SSD and ALL their Apps on a second LARGE HDD. I'm not the only one who uses my PC and we play close to at least 10 games total.
Perhaps there is a better way. but what you're suggesting is different than what I've read. Isn't having a tower the
whole point of having some actual options???
Anyway, I'll reconsider....

I am guessing you aren't very proficient at gaming then right? I have currently 4 games installed. My main, BF3, a FPS. My BS solo game, Alice: Madness Returns. My RPG, Skyrim. And my MMO-ish game, D3. To become great at a game, and I am not talking about being a pub star here, you need to get overly antiquated feeling with the games engine and the specific quarks of that game which requires a nonstop dedication to it. I played BF3 very competitively a while back. While I just pub now, I am still very dedicated to it. People who go from game to game generally cannot hang with the elitist of the comp. sector. So I am being absolutely 100% serious with you. Because you want the very best performance in game, ie no stutters, fast map loading times, you want your games on the SSD.

Yep, you're correct. I'll get an SSD. Kingston HyperX 120GB sound nice?
I do need to get better at all this! thumb.gif +1 Rep
