Project Build: Codename Mallard

Hi Guys,

I am in the process of planning my build for 2013, this one is pretty special as it is in memory of my late Uncle, who passed away recently, the aim of the build is to finish it and start it up on the 31st of May, when he would have turned 50. His favourite animal was the duck and he always had pet ones hence the name, if anyone has a better name sticking to the duck theme let me know.

Okay that aside lets get on to the build itself. The idea is a high end gaming/ editing rig in a small form factor. Namely the Bitfenix Prodigy Arctic White edition. I want to keep the sleek styling of the prodigy but add some of my own to it to make this build special. I plan to remove all of the innards (HDD cages ODD cage PSU cage SSD cage etc.) so it is nice and clean on the inside. I will then drill out the rivets for the back panel and make a replacement one from 1mm steel, as well as a custom motherboard tray, like a conventional tower case. Unlike Prodigious by Adamski I will be sticking with the mITX form factor as I think it will be a cool challenge wink.gif

The colour scheme is Yellow, White and Black.
The case is white, although I am tempted to paint the inside flat black? It will have yellow sleeving and some other accents - sub to find out.

This is still very much in the development stage, the only fixed thing I have is some Swiftech water cooling kit, (240mm rad, Apogee Drive ii) as this will be a CPU and GPU loop.

any suggestions will be greatly appreciated but this is what I am currently going with:

i7 3770k
ASRock Z77E-ITX
16GB ram - UNDECIDED (preferably white or yellow)
Asus 7870 GHz edition (with EK block)
tube res (150mm bitspower?)
2x mSATA SSDs (raid)
1xSSD (storage)
Bitfenix Prodigy
Cooler Master 850w silent pro m2

Budget: sub £1000 would be nice

Biggest issues so far:
how to mount GPU onto custom back panel of case

sufficient air flow in the front (white edition looks restricted

how to paint the steel to match the current finish

Quick update, here is a photoshopped image of what I have planned for the back panel when it arrives wink.gif I will leave this to your imagination, you will have to wait and see what all of the parts are and how they fall into the grand scheme

SO today I received I nice package from Swiftech which had been sent all the way from California to the UK, but still made it in one piece! So a massive thank you to Swiftech for sending me those parts, feast your eyes on all of this watercooling goodness wink.gif

MCR 220 QP slim radiator (240mm)

Apogee Drive ii 1155 socket

FITTINGS...

Now I need to order the Prodigy and I can start modding thumb.gif

Apologies for the lack of mods, I am still waiting on parts, but for now here are some awesome product shots of the water cooling gear that I took:

All of these products are Swiftech products, which they kindly sent me.
