You can just look up the stock online. My experience with microcenter is they have a hard time finding anything in the store or some guys are plain lazy, and go on break when you ask them to look for something. I wouldn't expect a call back, most likely he hung up and threw your number in the trash and he was glad that he didn't have to get up out of his chair to actually ask someone or look in the computer the stock.
What microcenter are you buying from ? I can look up the stock for you.

Well that is certainly unreal how cheap 2700k´s is in Microcenter. I paid 1 month ago 259€ for my 2700K. Cheapest you can get in here (Finland), very good deal, since its 260€ in Germany aswell (in there every component is cheaper). Used ones are here about 220€.

If you're buying a used 2700K for $230, then just buy the 3770K for the same price. That way you have a chance of getting a very-nice-low-voltage-high-clocker chip. No guarantees though, but I will always take the brand new than used if they are in the same price range.

I think he's looking for one he doesn't have to de-lid to get reasonable OC temps out of.

I'm talking about the possibilities.
