They just seemed so sure, and it made me doubt what I thought to be true. Sigh. And I haven't even installed it because once I got home I immediately had buyer's remorse.

This is why you don't impulse buy graphics cards kids. I just got excited to actually go to good warehouse store since there's none around where I live and I don't go to Toronto often. I'll try to return it, and thanks for the link to the 300 dollar 7950! If I can wrangle cash back I'll order it from Newegg.

Thanks for the response everybody, you confirmed my serious doubts.

They ALWAYS lie about being on commission... :s Unless you actually know the person personally they'll say no and sell you the most expensive card..

670 and 7950 are pretty close in terms of power with 670 sometimes even coming close to a 7970. But, Nvidia has 3D Vision (which I use a lot [my cheap red-cyan glasses work well enough for my purposes]), PhysX (which I enjoyed a lot too while playing batman) and excellent drivers (for nearly every game that came out nvidia had a driver update within 1 day or so). If you want to sacrifice all of that for a few more frames in some few, select games then by all means go for it. I think the 7950 overclocks better too but my 670 went to 1262 mHz easily and I have had no problems with it so far.

The 7900 series has serious power behind them when overclocked, they gain more vs Kepler in this respect.
Also... price/performance goes to AMD hands down at all price points, especially at the 200 mark where the 660Ti is just..... completely derping around.

7950 is a better card than 670,it smokes 670 with way lesser price tag--

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18455827

linus done in-game playing benches(not built-in benchmarks) and the detail benchmarking procedure and 3 tests run explained by linus on other video.7950 emerged as clear winner over 670 both in performance and obviously on price/performance-

(metro 2033)

(what more benches you want,as i said before 7950 smokes 670 on way lesser price....nvidia kepler is all marketing hype to give you dilusion of quality with way more price tag
and don't listen to that commission hungry salesman who is misguiding you for more commission)
GET yourself HD 7950 over 670 hands down:gunner:

The GTX 670 is a perfectly fine card, but considering the price points of both parties nowadays, a 7950 or even 7970 seems much more desirable. So if I were buying now, I'd end up with one of those instead.

Also, games tend to favor one or the other (nvidia or AMD). Based on what you play figure out what works best for you. thumb.gif

Dont regret, that galaxy card is a GC version which is an equivalent of 670 ftw, it runs @ gtx680 clocks and performs 2% below 680 for $100 less, out of the box GTX 670 GC / FTW is aproximately 15% faster than 7950, i'd stick with what you got if i was you as well. Now all this talk about 7950 is better because it can be overclocked is irrelevant because

A) both cards can be overclocked
B) overclocking potential varies from one particular card to another

Here is what kind of performance you get out of the box:

I also think that all these comments about sales person being moron and idiot are disrespectful and ignorant, this kind of comments shouldn't take place at OCN which is meant to be friendly and intelligent community.

Also Galaxy customer service is not bad at all. BTW dont forget to register your card at www.GalaxyTechUS.com
So what you get with a Galaxy gtx 670 GC is:

1. Better performance out of the box
2. PxysX Support
3. Better drivers

Bottom line is - GTX 670 CG is a solid choice for a 1080p gaming.

Thanks ekg, I'm happy with it in the end as well. I was upset with the sales person mostly because he quoted me numbers that were WAY out of bounds, but I should have trusted myself a little more before going in to make a purchase like that. Impulse buying ftl.

In the end it all worked out, I just overpaid. I'm surprised people are still coming in here and arguing about it, it's already been settled! I'm happy thumb.gif
