[SCRATCH] 10L / MITX / Watercooled / GTX 670

Thread Starter
Well, I have decided to step away from ATX+ computers, WAY to big to be carrying to LAN parties. So, the first thing I wanted was a very small, but capable rig. I use it for gaming and surfing, but I also want it quiet. So I started looking around, Lian Li had some nice cases, and I liked Silverstone's SG05, but I wanted a tower (taller that long/wide). Three months of looking and waiting, nothing that I was looking for came out, so in the end, I decided to build my own. Something SSF cools well and it has to be watercooled for the utmost silence. So, let it commence!

That's awesome to build a SFF build by yourself, tough, but awesome! biggrin.gif

In my opinion, the possible mistake you can make designing your own SFF case is forgetting about the cables, airflow, the tubing and the reservoir.

For the watercooling, I would recommend you the Swiftech H220 so you've got all you need for the watercooling (pump/reservoir / 240mm slim rad and it's very silent). In the video, you will see that this waterloop can cool an overclocked CPU and 2 GTX680.

For the sake of brainstorming, here is some ideas I've had for the same type of case you want: http://imgur.com/a/2xevn (it was aircooled so it's the wrong GPU but you have the idea)
The case are sideways but you could flip it vertically tongue.gif . Dimensions: 340 x 250 x 170 mm
For the last pic, I've just put the HDD and SSD between the GPU and the PSU, it makes the case taller (around 400mm / 16inches !) and can improve the airflow if you put a 92mm fan on top of the mobo's I/O.

Anyway, Good luck ! smile.gif

New idea, 240 up front instead of a 180 on the side. It's quieter and the fan and rad selection is a LOT bigger. Also with this new design, the overall liter-eg is actually less than 10L. biggrin.gif

That EK GPU water block has the openings pointing towards the bottom of your case, and you'll have trouble getting angle fittings under there. I would have a look at the alphacool 670 block instead which is low profile but has ports on the motherboard side as well.

Oh, I wasn't actually going to use the EK block, I was just using it for a reference point when I was making another model prior to the last one I posted.. Anyways, MORE PARTS!

A i5 2500K, awesome! (Thanks Shlunky)
