no, I don't know what it means. Consoles are not the same as desktop computers. Games are designed to run on certain hardware and graphics. You cannot change the options like you can with pc's... If someone can prove me wrong please do, but I have always heard that there is no way to upgrade a console.

What it most likely means is that whatever games you put in after dropping in a faster processor will likely run too fast, probably like what happened with AMD X2 processor rigs with certain games before the dual core patch came out.

ahhh you didn't mention you had linux installed on there. Now that makes things very very different. I would be very interested to see if you could get this to work. Is there linux(or another os) for the 360 yet?

HAH BOOOOOOOOYAAAAAAAAAA I FOUNT THE WEBSITE
http://xbox.fuzzymuzzle.com/DreamX/cpuupgrade.htm
http://hankfiles.pcvsconsole.com/answer.php?file=121

As many of you are now aware, a comapany by the name of Friendtech is selling modded Xboxs with a CPU speed of 1.4GHz. This major fact sparked the interest of an Xbox modder and a quest to find out how this could possibly be down was formed by a single post:

With GamesTron selling the FriendTech ehanced xbox for the hefty price of $500, it's not a great product for those of us in the lower tax bracket. However, a quick search for the celeron tualatin cpu on pricewatch.com brings up a few hits at very cheap prices. So, my question is:
Is it just a question of pulling out the xbox's current chip and putting a new one in?

and, if not:
what "magic" did friendtech do to to make this sucker work? Related to this, what part does the "media key" play in the whole scenario?

If anyone has actually bought this x-box, and could provide pictures on what the setup looks like on the inside, that would be great.

-SBP

Now, FuzzyMuzzle.com is going to explain the basic concepts behind this to give nwebie developers joining this team and curious passer bys a test of what it involves.

EDIT : well i shoulda read the whole thing .i just owned my self LOL it was worth a try

vtech1,

I read somewhere in a mag or on a website that, if memory serves, consoles have in-order processors. Computers have out-of order processors.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Btw Doesn't the PS3 have 1 core processor and like 7 or so sub-processors?
