Hard drive keeps making accessing noises

Hey guys, been trying to figure this out for a little while here. My machine is running windows 7, installed to SSD. I have a second SSD for games, and a HDD for storage. The problem is starting a little while ago, the HDD keeps making noise like it is being accessed in a pattern. I can time it doing it about 30 times a minute, so every 1 second it makes its little brrrt brt brt noise. NOTHING is accessing it according to the resource monitor. It is literally driving me up the wall, and I am about to unplug it if it doesn't stop.

Does anyone know what could cause it to do this? It isn't a continuous running, just a long then two short bursts, over and over and over again. The drive is a seagate ST500 if it matters. It attempts to keep doing it even if I copy a large set of files over, but there doesn't seem to be anything wrong, seatools etc. says its good to go.

Have you ran a virus and malware scan yet?

Yes, but there is nothing. The Windows installation is literally one day old.

When you say storage for the drive, what type of storage? Media? Is there anything on the drive that would need to run? Like a anti virus or a malware program?

Just plain storage. There are no programs, nothing installed on the drive. It just started doing this a few hours ago out of the blue. Like I said originally, in the process viewer there is nothing accessing nor running off of the drive.

I would just unplug the drive and restart the computer. See if it starts it again.

I've had about 4 Seagates that did this. Platter of death. I stopped buying them.

All of mines were making a noise like you described. Basiclly they are were going dead.

The seatools or nothing else found anything wrong with them either.

If you can get everything off you can while your computer still recognizes the drive, just to be safe.
