Because launch drivers for the 680 and the 680/590 at stock while the OEM 8950 is overclocked is fair right?

It's not even about whether it's fair or not. It is a comparison to show that it's a very good performing card. I doubt anyone buying these oem GPUs in their prebuilt systems will complain about those numbers. If true.

Well it's a 7950, we already knew it performs well. But to say it's faster than the NV cards mentioned because of a 680 launch review and because of OCd 8950 scores is laughable at best. The thing is that the people who end up using these will never even see scores like the one in the OP because the cards wont be overclocked...

And I tried to read it but I have tons of trouble loading the site for some reason...

This looks to be far too confusing to the average consumer and could really start some problems.

They do that every generation with low end cards.

This is different because its the whole line up, giving believability to the idea that sea islands is going to be really late.

So these OEM parts are rebrands but they are still releasing 8900 series cards that are new? What a stupid thing to do. I wonder if these are just for certain regions or all regions.

I am actually a fan of this for the OEM market. The point is so that when you buy a computer from dell you don't have to know whether a 6870 is faster than a 5770 or a 6770(not sure if this exists). We as enthusiats know these hardware specs and where things fall. Dell doesnt wan't there consumers or their marketing to have to explain why the computer with a 5770 is less expensive then the one with the 4890 even though the 4890 is faster. Now I pulled the cards out of my bottom but the idea is there some of the new cards will perform slower than the older gen cards.

In the oem world they do not want this generation fragmentation so With each new year they take all their linup and make it under one name. Now everything is a 8xxx series and the higher the number the better the card. That is my understanding of this process and I like the idea. 8100 is better then 8050. Not having to figure out is a 6970 better than a 7550 or whatever.
