Speaker dock for Iphone 4

Thread Starter

Hey guys.

I will be picking up a Iphone speaker dock for my father.

This is the equipment I want to buy... http://www.edifier-international.com/news-press/edifier-go-if350-%E2%80%93-portable-sound

I have a question though.

My father listens to music not via MP3 recorded on the phone, but he listens to music from applications that serves as music library (not radio either)

Would he still be able to listen from those applications via these speaker docks? or do these speaker docks only work with MP3s that is stored inside the phone.

Thank you.

I'm confused. You can't listen to "applications". They have to run on something.
What doe he use? A computer? What is his current audio setup?

Thanks for the response..

Let me clarify than better if I can.

He is using an application called TTNET Music. Its a music service provided here in Turkey via our phone carrier. Its like Nokia Music application on the Nokia Lumia phone I have.

This application just makes you stream to music from the playlist of the company, and there are thousands of music inside.

So basically he has no MP3s at all but always listens to music via this program.

His current audio setup is his laptop and the Iphone 4 I gifted to him.

Again he doesn't have MP3s but always stream music via TTnet Music.

Ok I see what you're asking.

The dock will support playing streaming music from the internet.

With the iPhone in the dock, the dock's speakers will play anything that is playing on the iPhone. All docks work this way.

As for the laptop, if it has an audio out connection, then plugging that into the dock's line in connection will play anything that is playing on the laptop.

Be aware that streaming music to an iPhone will use a lot of your monthly data limit.

I would assume that getting the music over the internet via the laptop would be better, data usage wise, since most internet services have much higher data limits than cell phone data plans do.

Anothe option would be purchasing an external (powered) speaker set for the laptop, be it a wired, via line out, Wifi, WiFi speakers are available, as are Bluetooth speakers. For the price of that dock you can get a very nice set of powered speakers.

But then, if your dad is anything like mine was, sticking the phone in the dock, starting the app and just enjoying the music, will be much preferred to dealing with the complexity of an external speaker setup!
