Looking to get a 7970. Any info on voltage locks?

Hello everyone,

I am looking for a 7970 with unlocked voltage to put under water in my new build. However I can't seem to find enough info on these cards. The few that I have been told about seem to have their voltages newly locked in current reviews. They MSI lightning is also pretty much out of my price range. I would like to stick closer to $400. Thanks.

since you would be watercooling you could go for XFX HD 7970 Black edition (FX-797A-TDBC ) . you can check ekwb site which shows the card as compatible with full cover waterblocks.

Stop making recommendations dude. Do not get xfx or anything but a reference card or one based on a reference card for watercooling. All the xfx are full custom now.

You want one of these (msi 7970 oc), i have one and have fitted an Accelero on it, reference card. Check newegg.

Ok so basically the reference cards are the only ones left now that are voltage unlocked and can easily fit a waterblock.

My vote goes to HIS 7970 reference model. I'd assume it to be unlocked, but i'm not 100% certain. Quick Google research didn't help either.

I just recently purchased (about 2 months ago) this same card from newegg. I can confirm reference pcb(it is ugly shade of brown) and i am using the heatkliller 79x0 block on it. This card is also voltage UNlocked, I run mine at 1.35.
