SLI = unstable overclock

Thread Starter
I have a stable cpu overklock 4.6ghz (1.32vcore) but after i got my second gtx 560 ti 448 i get error in prime95.
If i remove the second card i can run prime95 without error.

I now run cpu "stock settings" and i can run prime95 without problem.

Any tips?

I'm thinking the same thing. Prime95 doesn't care about GPU, adding one shouldn't affect a CPU overclock unless it's pushing the PSU over the edge. 650 watt should be enough I think, but I don't know that specific model, and it might be a faulty unit.
Try using a different PSU and see if the problem persists.

yes prime95 doesn't care about gpu's but is pushing the cpu to 4.6 and also the cards still draw idle power as well as having no idea how old psu is on top of that.

As it was said, GPU's are idle when Prime95-ing the CPU. But I really doubt that a few watts froma idle GPU would send the psu over the top (and OP tested that the hard way ...)

Working theory 1: second card worsens case cooling and increases cpu/motherboard/VRM temps, this in turn makes out for increased errors -to test: open case and put a LARGE room fan blowing twords the cpu cooler. Prime95 it
Working theory 2: motherboard mounting issues (or worse): second card warps the motherboard a bit, which in turn may flex a chip/weld that ticks a error out -to test (hopefully): open the case and loosen half a turn from the motherboard mounting screws. Prime 95 it

That's all I can think atm.

Thank you for the tips.

What is the best config when i get a extra fan into the side chessi:

1: blowing in air
2: blowing out air

?

As you can see i have the non-reference card on top and the reference card at the botten.

Id flop the cards around but thats just me. Reference remove the heat from between the cards and most aftermarket tend to saturate in sli. Looks like you have a decent amount of room between them. Did you try taking the second card back out and rechecking the cpu for stability? All the fans in your case aside from the 2 in the top left corner should be intake fans btw. Positive pressure is the way to go. Heat will find its way out when you force cold air in.
