Edit: is Spawn even sold in Europe, because I can only find Xornet.
Last I saw the Spawn works great at 1800 and 3500, but not so good at 800, but I haven't read up on it in a while, so not sure if that has changed.
The Xornet works great at 500 and 1000, but not so hot at 2000. The Xornet is also mouse mat color sensitive, it performs poorly on black mats.

I use the Xornet at 500 and 1000(depends on what I am doing) on a Puretrak Talent without issue, no jitter and I do not hit malfunction speed under any normal use. This is with the latest firmware.

ETA: No idea on European sales, I am in the US.

Are you lifting your mouse when you play? Just curious how it would work with Spawn, I lift my Pyra with thumb on one side and ring finger and pinky on the other, but with Spawn's ring finger rest it looks like my finger would just slide right off.

it doesn rest on the side perfectly and the liftoff isnt even noticeable its no different than my mx518 was. i like the 30a and 32 firmware. 30a is the most stable which is what it ships with. i think the large amount of mousepads being used with it are what people were complaining about not the mouses problem but a surface problem. the company did their work though by making all the firmware updates then making them available for everyone to install and find which works best for you.

i dont regret buying it whatsoever my aim is through the roof. the links are super super crisp. burst firing in bf3 with my 518 were triples now i can make single fire shots with the spawn its so precise with the omron switches. the rubber pads on the side couldnt be better for my fingers.

as for how i lift im used to pinching it with thumb and pinky. with the ring finger rest i can move it faster without that small fear of dropping it.

I have used so many mice in the past 4 years. I am a finger gripper myself and sometimes palm. Never has come come to Sensei.

The Spawn has v.6x firmware that fixes most of the issues but it's not found in the usual CM Storm page as it was supposedly a beta firmware.

ya just search for cm spawn 61 firmware and it should find the downoad page

The 61 FW for the Spawn is better, but by no means perfect. LOD is VERY high (~4 CDs on a no-name cloth pad). I only managed to lower the LOD by grinding off a piece of the lens and covering it with black paint, but it's not what I would call perfect either. Sometimes the shape is also weird (after > 1 year of usage) because there's no reference point to know which side is up and which is down, and you end up holding it a bit sideways.

Also, weird angle snapping which can't be disabled:

Thread Starter
Thought I'd update this since I've now spent about a week with the Naos 8200.

First, I've come to the conclusion that for someone with OCD tendencies, switching mice has been exhausting.

To complicate matters, I also got two new mice pads to try out: the Ensis 320 and the Razer Scarab. To complicate matters further, my friend and I thought it'd be entertaining to both play on each other's sensitivity settings. She does a 360 in about 2 inches, where I am more mild at 9 inches. it's funny how going back to my old setting now feels so slow.

All that said--

I really like the Ensis 320. To me, there's quite a bit of control and "grip"-- which surprised me because the surface is about as slick as they come. It almost feels like my PureTrak Talent in terms of glide and control, but obviously it's a hard mat. The Roccat Savu won't track at all on it, while the Deathadder 2013 seems to track flawlessly. Obviously, the Naos 8200 works well on it. I do have one major gripe though-- the coating is already beginning to come off. You can see what look like scratch marks in various parts of the mat from rubbing up against the mouse. It also picks up and shows a lot of oil. Also, it feels sometimes my mouse "sticks." I don't notice it too much when gaming but in basic desktop use where I'm moving the mouse a bit slower and casually it definitely seems that occasionally the cursors gets "stuck."

The Scarab mat is interesting. It's so much faster than the other two mats I have. It almost feels like playing on an air hockey table. I'm guessing the textured surface creates less friction and that's why it's so fast. I haven't spent a ton of time trying it, but first impressions are very positive and I could see myself loving the combo of the Savu and Scarab. I also have a major gripe about the Scarab pad-- the edge is really uncomfortably sharp and as a fingertip gripper I spend a lot of time with my wrist rubbing up against it. I haven't drawn blood yet, but it forced me to play with mat further back.

Now, as for the Naos 8200? My main reason for getting it was comfort, and I will say in this area it shines. It's kind of weird, but the first time I put my hand on it I thought: maybe I am a palm gripper and I've just been using mice that aren't comfortable for me to palm. I really like that there are obvious grooves for every finger. I find on the Death Adder 2013 I hold it different almost every time I use it because I'm not comfortable holding it. I still basically finger tip the 8200. By that I mean, my palm really just acts as a pivot point and my fingers are moving the mouse-- not my arm. Being a bit bulkier than the savu, more of my palm is touching the mouse though. It works fairly well. Sometimes in fast flick shots that require a greater range of motion it can be a bit awkward, but nothing game breaking. There really is a great amount of control with the Ensis 320/8200. I'm able to stop remarkably well and hit a lot of twitch shots.

As far as sensor performance, I really have no complaints. I'm sure there is some acceleration as seems to be inherent in all mice using laser sensors. I don't know that my play style really is a worst case scenario for acceleration issues. Because of my play style, I'm not doing a lot of long, fast mouse swipes. I mostly just move it side to side 4 inches in each direction. I also do a lot of slow, aim down sites shooting which is fairly easy for me to control either way.

I haven't reached any definitive conclusions. Is it more comfortable? Yes. Has the increased comfort helped my play? Eh, not really. If anything because I was adjusting to a new mouse/mouse pad that has made me a better player because in the past I too often relied on my "fast, accurate" aim way too often. Now that I can't count on that as much during this adjustment period, I'm playing a lot smarter and that has made me a better player.

There have been too many variables for me to reach any sort of real conclusion. I keep switching mice, pads, sensitivity etc. I'm going to try and spend a few more days on it without switching back forth between the other mice so that I can really get a feel for it.
