Radeon HD 6450 vs. Intel i7-3770

Thread Starter
Is this video card any better than the capabilities of a stock Intel i7-3770? Just wondering. It will be used for light gaming for things like Farmville. Nothing too intensive.
(Not my machine) ;P

Thanks,

True, but I would prefer a little more info.

If its a simple daily driver, why not grab a G620 and a 6450 and save $100?

That would be the best option.

You dont need to processing power of a 3770k to play farmville and browse the internet.

The HD6450 is on sale for $20 after MIR. I forgot to mention that the existing CPU is a Core i3-2120 (3.3GHz). I am guessing that a i7 would be a bit overkill? But going from dual core to quad core never hurts for multitasking too, right? May end up just getting the cheap video card rather than a CPU upgrade. If need be we can upgrade the CPU later on.

And unless you're doing heavy multitasking (not multiple browser tabs open, like serious CPU work), the above doesn't even apply. You're really not going to feel a difference.

You wont see any differences if you buy an i7. They are targeted toward people who require a lot of processing power, not the average user who goes on facebook and youtube. That would be 350 $ down the drain.

Ill add that even your i3 is overkill smile.gif

You'll be more than fine with a i3-3225 if you're only going to be playing Farmville and normal computer stuff.
