Send it back. Unless you had previous knowledge it was going to come like this, you should get your money back immediately.

Yeah he honestly did not describe this damage.

He only took 1 picture of the front of the CPU and not the back.. I wonder why.. :|
I've already contacted him so hopefully he's a good guy and doesn't give me any problems.

You can see the holes in the gold contacts where the pins contacted the CPU, and on that burnt one it looks like the pin maybe bridged the two contacts together and burnt up the one... maybe he tried to put in a board with a bent pin, not realizing that there was such a pin.

The marks are from the hold down bracket, they all leave a small mark but not as bad as that. That chip though looks like it was installed by a rank amateur and I would get my money back were it me.

If this was an ebay purchase, both ebay and paypal have provisions for this if the seller does not refund, although be prepared to wait a month while they give the seller time to "make things right."

Really rank. They are notched so you can't do this unless you're an idiot.

It saddens me to see such abuse frown.gif

Been trying to get a nice used 2500K for my cousins first gamer build. First one the buyer never delivered (still waiting on paypal to finish their investigation even though he said REFUND to the claim dispute) and now this. Never had such bad luck.

Purchased from a forum, hopefully the seller will give me a refund.. I really don't need to deal with 2 paypal disputes at the same time.

The damaged pin is number AK20, which according to the Datasheet is

Name: SB_CK#[1]
Buffer Type: DDR3
Dir. : O

Looks like it has something to do with the DDR3 memory controller, so I have doubts as to whether the CPU would still be operational. You might have gotten away with a VCC or VSS pin but as is, I'd be sending it back.

EDIT: Datasheet available Here
