Included fanboys who have to have a pissing contest on which GPU is faster, which is the best for the buck, while some prefer Nvidia and doesn`t care so much about the performance/price and just want the best, this is topped with AMD people calling Nvidia guys stupid, threads are closed, new cards are soon out, and the whole freaking MF cycle repeats itself.

Nobody actually game on their computer. GPUs are just e-peen, and people use way more time on forums discussing the very GPU they just bought to reinsure themselves and try to convince other people that their train of thoughts is the only correct.

**** humans, and **** and just buy whatever you like. Less discussing, more gaming.

Uhhhh.... the 7970 and the 7970ghz edition are the same thing just clocked differantly...

Your both talking to someone who has a 7950. I can clock just as high and get roughly (between 5-8%) same numbers as the 7970. It's still not a 7970. I can pretend all day by clocking at 1100+ and getting those extra few frames... see where I'm going?

I dunno about you, but I game more on my computer more than anything else. I care very much about price/performance, and that's why I have a 7950, not a 680 (splitting hairs).

If I wanted e-peen, I wouldn't have a 965be paired with a 7950.

Its the same GPU but its a new GPU because its clocked differently. Same as rebadge are "new GPUs", and same as higher clocked GPUs are faster than lower clocked GPUs. Nvidia could have done the exact same. Case closed.

Continue with the Titan discussion and leave AMD out of this. I know I`m asking for something impossible here but its so frustrating watching people try to convince other that any company is better than the other.

The 7970 GHz Edition isn't a new GPU. It's a new BIOS. The GPU itself did not change one bit and there's no evidence to suggest there's any binning going on.

And at this point in time nvidia being the best is subjective and depends on your needs.

But I agree that some people make GPUs out to be all about epeen.

Um no. It's not like a 4890, which actually clocks better than the 4870. You can literally make a 7970 a GHz Edition by flashing a BIOS. It's like GeForce 8800 -> 9800 or Radeon 5700 -> 6700. It's not a new GPU.

If Nvidia did the same thing they'd have to remove the TDP cap considering that Kepler Boost already allows for their cards to boost up as high as they can so long as they don't start spewing out too much heat.

It's the same GPU with a different firmware. That's it.

It replaced the hot-clocked versions from the different manufactures.

Don't insult others.

I guess you're pro Nvidia or something but what does it really matter had both still have both and both are fine.

I have a 670, I came from 4890s. I buy the right price / performance cards which fit my needs. The significantly lower power consumption of 600 series swayed me, when performance in the games I play most was the same. CS:GO, LoL, AC3 and Skyrim.

You're missing the point, I'm really not sure what you are trying to get at, but the point is my 670s in SLI will net me 3-4 less FPS when clocked the same as a 680s playing FC3 or other card burner games, but those 3-4 FPS will cost $200 If I need to spend 800 to get the game playable, the question becomes is the extra 3-4 frames worth 200$? My answer was no, so I got the 670 which fits my needs for AA, high textures and 1440p in Skyrim.

My point here was that a vbios with higher clocks from AMD/Nvidia along with a new hardware ID name = New GPU.

Thats how its been since ages ago. Its really not a new GPU but rather a rebadge to people who know tech. smile.gif

I'm gonna say something and it is not intended to be flaming I just want to get back ontopic with this thread as everytime I check it'll be fan garbage all over the place.
We have a place on the forum for bragging about either Nvidia or AMD and it is the designated "owner topics"

Leave all the fanboy junk out of this thread.
Nobody cares!

I don't think anyone's arguing that the 670 isn't definitely a far superior value... I don't think anyone mentioned value though.

Usually it IS a new GPU (see: 8800 Ultra, GTX 285, HD 4890). However, the 7970 GHz Edition clocks no better and isn't binned at all. It's not really a GPU, it's a BIOS.
