Since they will be able to capitalize on memory bandwidth and power.

Agreed. If these Titans and their purported specs are real, and they are not voltage locked....enthusiast/gamer Nirvana!!drool.gif And even though a pair of them might set you back ~$1800...I'd bet they could handle anything thrown at them for the next 3-5 years!

Am I the only one who thinks that's a little weird for review samples to be shipped this early before expected release (2-4 weeks away)? Maybe I'm wrong, but I would think shipping review samples about a week prior to launch would be typical. Conversely, if review samples have been shipped, would that indicate that the card might be released sooner than anticipated?

Nope. 4xx cards went out waaaaaaaay before release.

I hear they usually don't go out more than two weeks in advance.... I'm guessing more towards the "sooner than anticipated" thing if the review samples have truly shipped.

Yea, scaling at 2 is much better than at 4. Although I saw a review here a few days ago that showed the scaling at 4 in some games over 80%, that is not bad at all.

I wouldn't say 3-5 years, but at least 2 for real solid gaming. The only issue I have with that kind of a statement is, we don't know how much devs are going to go nuts since the newer consoles will be here soon.

Either way, they will be strong for a while.

I think it's great tat nvidia is creating another market segment for the enthusiasts. For the people who price is no object, the 3960/70x is the obvious choice over the 3930k, but in graphics the best money can buy (that is usable in games) is 3 680s or 3 7970s. I see droves of users on this forum running out to buy 3 titans the day they are released, because they are simply the best money can buy.

I also do not see this effecting the price on the 680/670/660ti very much, 50-100$ max. I hope it does though, because I would love another 670 :3

I'd be shocked if these cards were not voltage locked. If NVIDIA finds it "necessary" to voltage lock a GK104 card like the GTX680, why would a GK110 based Titan not be voltage locked as well? It's a massive chip - much larger than GK104, and yet will only be available with a reference board and cooling. Frankly, I think it makes more sense to voltage lock a Titan than a GTX680 or 670. The current Kepler cards cards may run cool, but I suspect that won't be the case with the Titan. Maybe you could adapt a GTX680 aftermarket WC or top-notch air cooler, but there goes the warranty on your $900+ card. Point is that, even if the Titan's voltage was unlocked, how much could you really boost voltage before GPU temps become a problem?

FWIW, I'd prefer no voltage lock, but before that, I'd rather have either a high end non-reference versions (ex. MSI Lightning & similar), or NVIDIA improve "reference" to an equivalent level of component quality and cooling performance. At 28nm, my guess is that Titan OC headroom will be quite limited - much more than a GTX680 or 670.

I'm wondering exactly how limited the quantity of Titans is actually going to be, so would it even be possible to get another one a year or two down the line to sli? The rumored performance numbers people are suggesting are pretty damn high, and I have a hard time imagining any game coming out this year or even mentioned that could legitmately max out sli titans or even stress them.
