At the top of the hill. Nvidia is really looking to put a stranglehold on the market. AMD has nothing to counter this @ the moment. Nvidia will sell these cards rather quickly. If the TDP is 300 or less it will be great. A Person only needs to run one of these, if you were lucky enough to SLI this beast it will be amazing. Only thing that would put this card over the top is unlocked voltage, but many doubt that including myself. It still will overclock well.

Let's assume for arguments sake that it's $899 and it's ~85% the speed of a GTX 690.

I'd love to here your opinions and guesses on a bunch of general questions.

Is this card worth getting for someone who only wants to buy one card and then get a refresh of Maxwell in two years?

Is it worth buying seeing as how it's so limited?

Is a limited card like this going to have decent driver support in a year?

Do you think it will come with a rash of issues like Fermi 1.0 that they will later fix if they release the 780 in Q4?

Rumors indicate that this will be faster than the GTX 780, which is rumored for Q4, but is there a chance that Nvidia will come out with a GTX 780 that comes close to the Titan in performance and in a 3GB package that will be much cheaper? In other words, do you think this is a rushed card and early adopters of the Titan are guinea pigs?

To be honest, I'm thinking of buying it despite what I've said about the price, and I'd hate to have Nvidia release a full GK110 chip as a GTX 780 down the road, as they have more time producing chips and even sorting out some kinks.

Do you think people buying this are guinea pigs for future 780 users?

In general, do you think this is a safe buy in terms of future driver support, kinks, issues, and protected from surprise releases like a cheaper better version in Q4 or even Maxwell in Q1 2014?

It would be a sidegrade at best from GTX680 SLI, but still... so much want.

Is it going to be the "GPU to rule all other GPUs"?
A special case GPU with limited manufacturing?
A test case before 7xx series comes out?
If they are going to put out a GPU which will not be the next 7xx series, but be better, what is the point of the 7xx series?

I'm really confused here:thinking:

Not that I wouldn't like to see that monster coming out. But I'm not sure where it will fit.

It fits in the same place 680 SLI fits, except it's actually better for the most part. Getting comparable performance without having to deal with SLI is a huge boon. There are a variety of issues that SLI introduces. And if the price point is what the rumors say, the performance/dollar ratio is excellent.

After running SLI for a couple generations, I'm pretty much done with it. It's more trouble than it's worth. I'm all about the most powerful single-GPU card I can get these days.

I'll likely pick one up if the rumors are remotely close to true.

edit: I forgot to mention that the 6GB of RAM completely future-proofs it as well. You can run as many mods as you want in any game with that kind of buffer.

So it would be very powerful card with excellent OC scaling at the cost of high power consumption. I wouldn't mind that tongue.gif

A sidegrade to any multi card setup that is a single card is always an upgrade. If rumors hold true, and if this thing can surpass 690 performance and even gets close to dual 680 performance, I will surely sell mine to end up with a single card beast.

What's this Q4 release date for GTX 780?
