That said, IB is possibly 10% IPC increase over SB. Still insignificant , though.

Intel is not concerned about graphic performance for the Server platform imo, otherwise SB-E/EP would have had an IGP, without an IGP and with a 22nm die shrink, the question on what do you do with all the extra transistor arises.

With a die shrink you can get a sizeable increase in transistor counts( 400 million for SB-Ivy, spent mostly on the IGPU), so I wouldn't rule out a core count increase for Ivy-E. 22nm die shrink would allow Ivy-EP to be a native 10/12 core chip, which give reason to believe in the rumor of a 8 core i7 for Ivy-E or a 6 core 3820 successor.

Ivy without IGPU and with a 95 W TDP it could have easily been a native 6 core.Blow that Ivy die shot up without the IGPU onto 125 W TDP and LGA2011 size and a 6 core 3820 successor is probably attainable.

You're just making stuff up in your own mind here. In the future it might be a good idea to remind yourself that you need sources when you post claims like that and stop yourself before you hit the 'submit' button.

They might wait till the end of the year with the 700 series, but I hope not because I plan to get a gtx 770.

I have looked trough the benchmarks comparing haswell to ivy.
Haswell will be energy efficient but not faster @samespeeds as ivybridge.

Aren't most of the performance figures of Haswell leaked anyways? Plus, most of those figures are mostly done with ES, outdated BIOS and ME.

So who here has managed to recruit their own F5 squad? biggrin.gif
post #718 of 1002
Can't wait, If there are not going to be alternatives from AMD until the end of the year I might pull the trigger on one of these, if it doesn't go over 1000 bucks.

Different microcode won't make it perform better also an ES can be benched as the real deal simply by evaluating performance, clock per clock.

False.
It will be around 10% faster at the same clock speed.
