660 Ti or 7950 for Crysis 3? - Page 21

According to Guru3D, GTX 660 Ti actually have better FPS than 7950 although the difference is quite small, only about 5 FPS.

Except in this game......

Niether card as I said could max game with AA other than FXAA.

In this game those two cards are very close in performance.

HD 7950 boost (925 mhz) has a 15% higher clock than HD 7950(800 mhz) . the HD 7970 gains 4 fps for 125 mhz. a similar scaling would put HD 7950(925 mhz) at 38 - 39 fps. the average overclock on HD 7950 boost is 1150 mhz. HD 7950(1100 Mhz) matches HD 7970 Ghz. its well know fact that people buying HD 7950 boost are enjoying HD 7970 ghz performance for USD 300. the HD 7900 users thread has enough people to vouch for this.

I could say the same for overclocking the GTX 660ti. check their thread for more info......your point?

OVERCLOCKING IS NEVER GUARANTEED! That is also a well known fact. every time I see you recommending a 7950 you always say "If you overclock" Even boost speed is not guaranteed to be that high.

My personal preference buy what ever GPU has the best out of box performance, then try and overclock.

Also, keep in mind OP there has been alot of heat lately on AMD for frame latency. they have improved it, but not 100% yet. I know I owned a 7 series GPU (three of them) and it was unbearable to me. Nvidia is smoother experience IMO.

any HD 7950 boost will run at 925 mhz with power control at +20% in amd ccc. at stock power control the card is TDP limited.

Not every game has frame latency issues on AMD cards. AMD has addressed few of the games which had issues in the latest 13.2 beta - skyrim , guild wars 2 and borderlands 2. the new memory manager driver is supposed to improve it for dx11 and dx10 games affected like Farcry 3 and Hitman absolution.

and Nvidia has their work cut out too rolleyes.gif

Titan loses to HD 7970 Ghz in frame latency in sleeping dogs. GTX 680 is even worse.

In Guild wars 2 GTX 680 has some frametime issues to resolve

http://techreport.com/review/24381/nvidia-geforce-gtx-titan-reviewed/7

check out farcry 3 too

" There's some funkiness going on with all of the cards, though. Notice the big spikes to over 100 ms in the GeForce GTX 680 and 690 plots. Once almost every run, we hit a place where the game would just choke and then recover."

So don't say that Nvidia has perfect drivers and is much smoother .

Well, I dislike playing under 60 fps..... so both single card suck to me, need to sli 670 or crossfire 7950s.

But if I had to choose one or the other, 7950 without a doubt.
