That's the reason why I went for a 2600k some months ago.
But 4.5GHz is really good man, it is comparable to a 4.95GHz sandy (10% faster vs a 4.5GHz sandy).

Bios changes can mess with voltages.. Some bios updates are reporting bad volts so in a new update they fix this and sometimes They dont even let the user know about this.. Even with new bios updates you can use less volts for the same overclock as before.. Everything is trial and error here Seen anything and everything on pc hardware.

Also vrms overheating and volts fluctuating can cause this too..

You sure you didnt change nothing on the bios? Like LLC for example?

I´m now very careful with my i7-3770k and you are not the only one with a degrading chip. When I pushed my chip to 4,7 ghz and 1,4 V + it needed more voltages even after 2-3 days and was not longer stable with 4,7 ghz.
Now everything is fine with 1,288 V and 4,5 Ghz but ya some Ivy´s dont like 1,3 V and 85°C + .

hmm still demanding high voltsat 1.41v for 4.8ghz.. gonna stick with the 1.6v at 4.5ghz... having said that.. i have noticd in the last 2 days that it freezes for a split second on the screen that asks if you want to enter bios.. plus it freezes somtimes when windows launnches.. another strange thing happened this evening.. i shut the system down and the screen went blank but the system kept running.. had to power the psu to off..

I think it is asking for more voltage on .. gonna look into it tomorrow..

any thoughts would be great ..

seems this chip hasn't given up on giving me a hard time...

cheers

probably your motherboard caps are degrading , not the cpu .

I'am in a different boat, my chip didnt want to do 4.8ghz @ 1.50v, then after using it a while at 4.6ghz @ 1.30v (same bios version as before all other settings etc the same).

I decided to try and go for 4.8ghz again and this time its working. Well not the best chip out there still needs 1.4v for 4.8ghz but it didn even do 4.7 at this voltage just a month ago. Strange... Reversed degrading? Hehe tongue.gif

Mine Is also delided, using clu core/ihs and a H100 cooler.

Never goes above 75 degrees celcius on prime 12hours.
