Has anyone tried to get the most efficient OC rather than best overall? I have really been wanting to undervolt and overclock to see if I can hit a sweet spot of about 1100 mhz with a VDDC somewhere about 1.0-1.1V. I just got my card yesterday but I would like to sacrifice some top end benching performance for a quieter and cooler card. Is TRIXX the best option for voltage control on these cards? Has anyone seen the throttling issues when using TRIXX?

got my power color 7870 tahiti on the way! biggrin.gif glad I found this thread biggrin.gif

was trying to CF my 6950 with a used ebay card but both times i tried to buy there was freaking issues. so decided to sell mine (sometime soon) and cash in on the free performance from these cards and get some new games (tomb raider and bioshock)

So ill come back to post scores or probably ask some questions at some point. I'm hoping it'll be a good little jump over my 6950 and then later before they stop selling them I'll probably get another for CF thumb.gif

I like MSI Afterburner for overclocking my crossfired PowerColor 7870 Mysts. My tips: 1. The new MSI Afterburner has voltage control for the card. You don't need to increase voltage to OC on this card. Don't touch it.
2. Do not overclock the memory..leave it at 1500. Toms hardware even recommended it. My card doesn't like the memory OC, it actually loses points in 3dmark 11.
3. You can easily overclock to 1200 core. I've had mine up to 1257 but I start getting artifacts. I leave it at 1200 for gaming and have never had artifacting, crashing or overheating.
4. Make sure Power Limit is set to 20% in MSI Afterburner. You'll have to increase fan speed to maybe 50% for this OC. Monitor the temps while benchmarking and playing games. If GPU gets hotter than you like, increase the fan speed.
5. Finally, I've read that these GPUs naturally run hot. I'm an old time gamer and don't like temps even in the 60s. It's is said these GPUs can run at over 80C all day long. However, I wouldn't accept that. I'm just old school....any more questions just ask. These cards ROCK

I have a question guys. My powercolor 7870 just got here biggrin.gif

I'm switching from the 6950 in my sig rig to this 7870. since they are both AMD.....do I still need to mess around with all the driver nonsenese?

like why would i need to uninstall it if id just reinstall it two minutes later exactly the same since they are both AMD?

I'm currently on the 13.3 beta drivers if that helps answer. thanks guys thumb.gif i need to get this bad boy in my rig so help quick if you know lol

wow never realised how much hassle people make about drivers.

I went from nvidea -> amd with a simply uninstall of nvidea drivers, no problems.

Then I went from 5770 to 7870XT. I uninstalled/reinstalled the AMD drivers and that was all, it works fine.

Personally I would only do other steps if I experiance problems, but always do the simple route first thumb.gif

That thing should easily do 1.1Ghz or even 1.2Ghz. I stopped using MSI AB and Trixx because they would randomly crash my games so now I'm using CCC.
I'm running the PowerColor 7870 Myst. Very quick OC session yields the following settings (there's room for more but not gonna explore at the moment):

1185/1500
Power: +20%
Done with CCC

What about other Myst owners--what's your settings?

By the way guys.... any of you Myst owners having difficulty out of sleep? Takes mine a pretty long time for signal to come through after coming out of sleep.
