Thanks biggrin.gif
I'm hearing mixed thoughts on the Extreme3 vs the Extreme4, mainly the power phase. What exactly is the powerphase difference, and why does it matter with overclocking 125W processors? (OC N00b)

The stronger the power phase, the less hot the vrms get(or something along the lines of that). I have an extreme3 motherboard too, and am sorta regretting it. Go for the extreme 4 if you plan on overclocking.

Well, I think I've found a base for hardware I want to run:
ASRock Extreme3 990FX (might change) Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 ASUS M5A99FX Pro (it's final lol)
Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
4 or 8gb of (undecided) RAM
SLI GTX460's or single 7850

460's are cheap, and they run pretty well in SLI (at least the 1gb cards) I'm probably going to go with EVGA 460's because I found a full cover water block for them if I decide to go with a full WC loop. thumb.gif

Thanks thumb.gif Also asked the question in the AMD Motherboards section and was showed this, could help you too if you plan to buy a new motherboard: Clicky Link

EDIT: Decided not to go with the Gigabyte board due to lots of DOA and RMA in reviews. It was the perfect color too frown.gif Oh well, the Asus one looks great too biggrin.gif

Mate, I'm gonna shoot a few suggestions here:

-Asus M5A99X EVO, Asrock 990fx fatality, Gigabyte 990fx-ud3a
-FX 6300, fx 8320
-Crucial Ballistix Elite ram (2x4gb 1866mhz cl9 1.5v or 1600mhz cl8)
-single 7790, 7850, gtx 660 2gb (AMD cards can run some popular mining game for coin gathering hint...)

You need decent vrm for overclocking on that platform, and AMD chips can be hindered by a lesser mobo (unlike Intel chips which oc the same on most z77 boards these days)
